Howitzvej
Howitzvej is a street in Frederiksberg, a municipality surrounded by Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Falkoner Allé in the east to Nordre Fasanvej where it turns into Finsensvej before the name changes again to Jernbane Allé on the border with Vanløse. History Howitzvej and its continuation Finsensvej was established in about 1755 and was first referred to as"The Road to the Numbers" (''Vejen til numrene'') with a reference to a series of numbered lots. The road became known as Lampevej (Lamp Road) from about 1860. The new name referred to one of the first outdoor street lamps in Copenhagen which was situated outside a midwife's practice to make it easier for customers to find their way ind the dark. The railway to Roskilde crossed Lampevej at Nordre Fasanvej from 1864 when Copenhagen Central Station was moved to a new location. Frederiksberg Courthouse
Frederiksberg Courthouse (Danish: Frederiksberg Domhus) is a courthouse in Frederiksberg, an independent municipality in Copenhagen Copenhagen ( or .; da, København ) is the capital and most populous city of Denmark, with a proper population of around 815.000 in the last quarter of 2022; and some 1.370,000 in the urban area; and the wider Copenhagen metropolitan ar ..., Denmark. Frederiksberg Fire Station (Danish: Frederiksberg Brandstation) is one of several local fire stations operated by Copenhagen Fire Department (Hovedstadens Beredskab) in the Greater Copenhagen area. It is located on Howitzvej in Frederiksberg. The building is part of a larger complex which also comprises Frederiksberg Courthouse, Solbjerg Church and the former Frederiksberg Police Station. Finsensvej
Finsensvej is a major street in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The direct continuation of Howitzvej, it runs from Nordre Fasanvej in the east to the northern end of Sønderjyllands Allé in the west where it turns into Jernbane Allé on the municipal border with Vanløse. The street crosses Dalgas Boulevard and passes under the S-train network's Frederikssund radial. The modern Flintholm neighbourhood is located on the north side of the street and the Lindevang Park on its south side. The street is named after the Nobel Prize-winning physician Niels Ryberg Finsen. History Finsensvej was established in 1755 as part of a link between Frederiksberg and Bogholdergården in Vanløse. Falkoner Allé
Falkoner Alle ( lit. "Falconer Avenue") is one of the main streets of Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Frederiksberg Town Hall Square in the south to Ågade on the border with Nørrebro in the north, linking Allégade with Jagtvej. The street takes its name from the Royal Falconry which was located in the area. Remains of the buildings are still found behind the buildings at No. 112–120. Solbjerg Church
Solbjerg Church (Danish: Solbjerg Kirke) is a church in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located at 34 Howitzvej, just north of Frederiksberg Gardens, and is one of 16 churches which have been designated for closure by the Diocese of Copenhagen. History Solbjerg Church was designed by Kristoffer Varming and built from 1907 to 1908. The area was still relatively open at that time. In 1921, the church was joined by a new police station and a courthouse. In 1980, the interior was hit by fire. Frederiksberg Hospital
Frederiksberg Hospital is a medium-sized government-owned general hospital located in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It has 380 beds (2005) and an emergency department. The hospital is a teaching hospital for medical students from Copenhagen University. History The hospital was inaugurated 1903 as a replacement for the city's older hospital that had become too small. During World War II, the German occupying power seized part of the hospital, the so-called ''tyske lazaret på Nyelandsvej'', where a number of wounded members of the resistance died in German custody. The hospital grew with the city until 1970 where it housed 1,000 beds. Since then, it has become more specialized and as a result, the number of beds has decreased.
