Dortheys Hiyo Eluay International Airport — also known as Sentani International Airport — is an airport serving Jayapura, from DAFIF (effective October 2006) the capital of Papua (province), Papua province, Indonesia, on the island of New Guinea. It is located in the town (''kelurahan'') of Sentani, Jayapura, Sentani (within the Sentani, Jayapura, Sentani District), approximately 40 km from downtown Jayapura; the name 'Sentani' is taken from Lake Sentani nearby. Dortheys Hiyo Eluay (known as Theys Hiyo Eluay; 3 November 1937 – 10 November 2001) was an Indonesian local politician from Irian Jaya (currently Papua) turned West Papuan independence activist. Known as the former leader of Papua Presidium Council, he was known as the community leader in West Papua region. He was murdered by members of the Indonesian Army special forces command. Early life and political career Theys was born in Sereh village in Sentani, in what was then Dutch East Indies part of New Guinea. He went to the ''Jongensvervolgschool'' (post-primary education) in Yoka, a boarding school, led by the Dutch missionary Izaak Samuel Kijne. After the JVS he followed a course in meteorology and worked then as a meteorological assistant. He also became an "ondoafi", a traditional leader of a village. Lukas Enembe (27 July 1967 – 26 December 2023) was an Indonesian politician from Western New Guinea, West Papua, who served as the 13th Governor of Papua (province), Papua Province from April 2013 to January 2023. He had previously served as Regent of Puncak Jaya Regency between 2007 and 2012, and Vice Regent of the same regency from 2001 until 2006. In September 2017, Enembe was called on by the Corruption Eradication Commission as a suspect in a graft case, and later he was named as a witness in a graft case involving misappropriation of scholarship funds in Papua.
