HogMaw is an American band from York, Pennsylvania, United States. HogMaw has appeared as a featured group on Philadelphia-area public radio station WXPN's Folk Show. In June 2011, the band entered a band competition sponsored by the Philadelphia Folksong Society, which invited campground musicians from its annual music festival to compete for a chance to perform on stage. HogMaw was one of two bands who won, and later that August they opened on the main stage of the annual 50th Philadelphia Folk Festival, one of the largest in North America. The New Jersey Folk Festival (NJFF) is an annual folk music and cultural festival held during Rutgers Day at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. The 2025 NJFF will be held on Saturday, August 23, rain or shine, at Davidson's Mill Pond Park in North Brunswick, New Jersey. The 2025 event will mark the festival's golden anniversary milestone, reflecting the Garden State's history, music, traditions and culture. Mandolin
A mandolin (, ; literally "small mandola") is a Chordophone, stringed musical instrument in the lute family and is generally Plucked string instrument, plucked with a plectrum, pick. Dominique Flemons (born August 30, 1982) is an American old-time music, Piedmont blues, and neotraditional country multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. He is a proficient player of the banjo, fife, guitar, harmonica, percussion, quills, and rhythm bones. He is known as "The American Songster" as his repertoire of music spans nearly a century of American folklore, ballads, and tunes. He has performed with Mike Seeger, Joe Thompson, Martin Simpson, Boo Hanks, Taj Mahal, Old Crow Medicine Show, Guy Davis, and The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. The Philadelphia Folk Festival is a folk music festival held annually at Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preserving the past, promoting the present, and securing the future of folk music and related forms of expression through education, presentation and participation. It is perhaps best known for hosting the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the longest continuously running outdoor music festival in North America, and has been held every single year without pause since its 1962 inception.
