Hepburn Heights Bushland
Hepburn Heights bushland is the familiar name of a 53-hectare parcel of natural bushland and woodland in the northern suburbs of the city of Perth, Western Australia, a large portion of which was preserved from residential redevelopment after a determined six-year campaign by environmental activists (November 1987 to June 1993). Being an environmentally destructive project of the notorious WA Inc state government, the land clearing and its spectacular resistance by protesters was given extensive media coverage, aiding the preparation of a closely detailed historical account which was published in 2009. Location Hepburn Heights is the name used to describe Crown Land Reserve No. 33286, located in the City of Joondalup suburb of Padbury, about 25 kilometres north-west of the Perth city centre. WA Inc was the name for a set of public-private partnerships in Western Australia in the 1980s associated with the Western Australian Development Corporation, which became a political scandal. The state government, which was led for much of the period by premier Brian Burke, engaged in business dealings with several prominent businessmen, including Alan Bond, Laurie Connell, Dallas Dempster, John Roberts, and Warren Anderson. These dealings resulted in a loss of public money, estimated at a minimum of $600 million and the insolvency of several large corporations. City Of Joondalup
The City of Joondalup is a Local government areas of Western Australia, local government area in Perth, Western Australia. Its central business district is located in the suburb Joondalup, and it includes the town centres of Hillarys, Western Australia, Hillarys and Warwick, Western Australia, Warwick. Padbury
Padbury is a village and civil parish in north Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the A413 main road that links Buckingham with Winslow. History The village name is Old English in origin, and means 'Padda's fortress'. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded as ''Pateberie''. The Manor of Padbury was exchanged, around the time of the Norman Conquest, for the Manor of Iver between Robert Doyley and Robert Clarenbold of the Marsh. The village had the distinction in Domesday as being one of the few villages in the country still owned by a native rather than a Norman family. It remained in this family (who later took the name 'de Wolverton' after the town of Wolverton) until 1442 when it was sold to All Souls College, Oxford. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural or cultural values. Protected areas are those areas in which human presence or the exploitation of natural resources (e.g. firewood, non-timber forest products, water, ...) is limited. The term "protected area" also includes marine protected areas and transboundary protected areas across multiple borders. As of 2016, there are over 161,000 protected areas representing about 17 percent of the world's land surface area (excluding Antarctica). Western Australian Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Western Australia is the highest state court in the Australian State of Western Australia. It has unlimited jurisdiction within the state in civil matters (although it usually only hears matters involving sums of or more), and hears the most serious criminal matters. Structure The Supreme Court consists of a General Division (equivalent to the Trial Division in other states) and the Court of Appeal. The Australian environment ranges from virtually pristine Antarctic territory and rainforests to degraded industrial areas of major cities.
