''Hema Hema: Sing Me a Song While I Wait'' or simply ''Hema Hema'' is a 2016 Bhutanese Dzongkha-language drama film written and directed by Khyentse Norbu. Premise Every 12 years, a group of people gather in a forest, wearing masks. Release and reception The film premiered at the 69th Locarno Film Festival. Critical reception Dan Fainaru praised the work of the film's cinematographer Jigme Tenzing in his review of the film for ''Screendaily''. Jay Weissberg of ''Variety'' described the film as "visually rich though narratively challenging". ''Kuensel's'' Sonam Wangmo Dukpa also praised Jigme Tenzing's camera work and described the film's scenes as "visual poetry" and "mystic, operatic performance". Pawo Choyning Dorji ( dz, དཔའ་བོ་ཆོས་དབྱིངས་རྡོ་རྗི།; born 23 June 1983) is a Bhutanese filmmaker and photographer. His feature directorial debut '' Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom'' (2019) was nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. He is the youngest recipient of Bhutan’s highest civilian award, the Druk Thuksey, the Heart Son of the Thunder Dragon. It was bestowed to him by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on the December 17th, 2022, the 115th National Day of Bhutan. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tian Zhuangzhuang (; born April 1952 in Beijing) is a Chinese film director, producer and actor. Tian was born to an influential actor and actress in China. Following a short stint in the military, Tian began his artistic career first as an amateur photographer and then as an assistant cinematographer at the Beijing Agricultural Film Studio. In 1978, he was accepted to the Beijing Film Academy, from which he graduated in 1982, together with classmates Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou. The class of 1982 collectively would soon gain fame as the so-called Fifth Generation film movement, with Tian Zhuangzhuang as one of the movement's key figures. Dzongkha
Dzongkha (; ) is a Sino-Tibetan language that is the official and national language of Bhutan. It is written using the Tibetan script. The word means "the language of the fortress", from ' "fortress" and ' "language". , Dzongkha had 171,080 native speakers and about 640,000 total speakers. Dzongkha is considered a South Tibetic language. It is closely related to and partially intelligible with Sikkimese, and to some other Bhutanese languages such as Chocha Ngacha, Brokpa, Brokkat and Lakha. It has a more distant relationship to Standard Tibetan. Spoken Dzongkha and Tibetan are around 50 to 80 percent mutually intelligible.
