Helena Martini
Helena Martini (5 July 1728, Bockenheim (Frankfurt am Main) - 8 July 1803, Darmstadt), was the mistress of Louis VIII, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, from 1744 until 1768. Biography She was the daughter of Carl Ludwig Martini (d. 1698), an officer, and Susanna Catharina Meser. Bockenheim (Frankfurt Am Main)
Bockenheim is a quarter of Frankfurt, Germany. It was incorporated into Frankfurt on 1 April 1895 and is part of the ''Ortsbezirk (Frankfurt am Main), Ortsbezirk Innenstadt II''. Bockenheim lies west of central Frankfurt and is the third largest district by population in Frankfurt after Sachsenhausen (Frankfurt am Main), Sachsenhausen and the Nordend (Frankfurt am Main), Nordend, with approximately 42,000 inhabitants. Bockenheim is bordered by the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main, Goethe University, the Naturmuseum Senckenberg, Senckenberg museum and the Frankfurt Trade Fair in the south. Louis VIII (German: ''Ludwig''; 5 April 1691 – 17 October 1768) was the Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt from 1739 to 1768. He was the son of Ernest Louis, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Margravine Dorothea Charlotte of Brandenburg-Ansbach. Life In 1717, he was married to his maternal first cousin's daughter, Countess Charlotte Christine of Hanau-Lichtenberg and he received Hanau-Lichtenberg as an addition to his dominions. It is a ''schloss'' set in a wildlife park or a hunting area (such as a forest, field or by a lake) that served primarily as accommodation for a ruler or aristocrat and his entourage while hunting in the area. Characteristics A ''Jagdschloss'' was often the venue for a banquet accompanying a hunt, and sometimes it also hosted festivals and other events.
