Heer Raanjha
''Heer Raanjha'' is a 1970 Indian Hindi-language romantic musical film directed by Chetan Anand (director), Chetan Anand and produced by his son Ketan Anand. The film stars Raaj Kumar, Priya Rajvansh, Pran (actor), Pran, Prithviraj Kapoor, Ajit Khan, Ajit, Jayant (actor), Jayant, Sonia Sahni, Kamini Kaushal, Indrani Mukherjee, Achla Sachdev and Tun Tun. The film's music is by Madan Mohan. The film is based on the legend of Heer Ranjha, the epic poem ''Heer'' by Punjabi poet, Waris Shah, written in 1766. As with Waris Shah's classical retelling of the tragic romance of Heer Ranjha, the sung-through, entire film and its dialogue is in verse, with Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi writing the verse dialogue. The film's songs and music are notable as is the photography by Jal Mistry, who shot most of Chetan Anand's films and won the Filmfare Award for the film. Chetan Anand (director)
Chetan Anand (3 January 1921 – 6 July 1997) was a Bollywood film producer, screenwriter and director from India, whose first film, , was awarded the Grand Prix Prize (now Golden Palm) at the first ever Cannes Film Festival in 1946. Later, he co-founded Navketan Films with his younger brother Dev Anand in 1949. Shaukat Azmi
Shaukat Kaifi (21 October 1926 – 22 November 2019), also credited as Shaukat Azmi, was an Indian theater and film actress. Her husband was the Urdu poet and film lyricist, Kaifi Azmi. Nana Palshikar () (1907 – 1 June 1984) was an Indian actor who appeared in over 80 Hindi films. He made his film debut in 1935 with ''Dhuwandhar'', and went on to play character roles in both Hindi mainstream and arthouse films. Veena (née Tajour Sultana; 4 July 1926 – 14 November 2004), also known as Veena Kumari, was an Indian actress. Early life and background Veena was born as Tajour Sultana on 4 July 1926 in Quetta, Baluchistan Agency, British India. Later, her family moved to Lahore and they lived there for an extended period of time. She married actor-hero Al Nasir in 1947 in Junagadh and had two children with him. Al Nasir was from a royal family in Bhopal and had already been married, first to actress Meena Shorey and then to Manorama.
