Hee Seo
Hee Seo (; born 13 March 1986) is a South Korean ballet dancer who is a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), one of the three leading classical ballet ballet company, companies in the United States. She became the company's first Korean ballerina to be promoted to principal dancer in ABT's 75-year history. She is also one of the youngest dancers in ABT history to be promoted to principal at the age of twenty-six. ''The New York Times'' has described her style and dancing to "exude an unhurried purity that sums up all that is lovely about ballet" and by ''Vogue (magazine), Vogue'' as "unspeakably wikt:lissome, lissome". Several critics have noted her style as "lyrical and open" and she has been critically acclaimed for her "humility" and "unique feminine strength". The Moor's Pavane
''The Moor's Pavane'' is a 20-minute ballet based upon the tragedy '' Othello'' by William Shakespeare. The ballet was choreographed by José Limón in 1949 to music from Henry Purcell's '' Abdelazer'', ''The Gordion Knot Untied'', and the pavane from ''Pavane and Chaconne for Strings'', arranged by Simon Sadoff. This ballet is José Limón's most famous work and his influence from Doris Humphrey is evident in his choreography. It was created on the Limón Company. There are only four dancers who appear in this rendition of ''Othello''. These dancers represent The Moor, originally played by Limón himself, Desdemona, originally played by Betty Jones, Iago, originally played by Lucas Hoving, and Emilia, originally played by Pauline Koner. Russian ballet () () is a form of ballet characteristic of or originating from Russia. Imperial Russian ballet Ballet had already dawned in Russia long before start of the 17th century as per the previous publications by certain authors. In this respect Anna Kuchta posits that ballet was first performed in Russia around 1673. While the first recorded ballet performance is believed to be in the 16th century around 1581, the Tsarist control and isolationism in Russia allowed for little influence from the West. Alla Sizova
Alla Sizova (22 September 1939 – 23 November 2014) was a Russian ballet dancer, best known for her work with the Kirov Ballet. She was one of the four superstar ballerinas of the Soviet Union along with Natalia Makarova, Alla Osipenko and Irina Kolpakova, as well as the preferred dance partner of Rudolf Nureyev before his defection. Biography Alla Ivanovna Sizova was born in Moscow on 22 September 1939 to Ivan and Ekaterina Sizov. The family moved to Leningrad shortly after her birth. During the Second World War, she was evacuated to the Urals with her mother and sister, while her father remained in Leningrad. After the war, Sizova studied at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, where she was taught by Natalia Kamkova. Contemporary ballet is a dance genre that incorporates elements of classical ballet and modern dance. Kevin McKenzie (dancer)
Kevin McKenzie (born April 29, 1954, in Burlington, Vermont) is an American ballet dancer, choreographer, and director. A former principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, he then served as the company's artistic director from 1992 to 2022. Education The youngest of 11 children, McKenzie began dance lessons at the urging of his father, who was eager to see his son become the next Fred Astaire. Shortly after his first session at the O'Brien School of Dance, he found himself drawn more to ballet than tap dancing.
