Haymanot Alew Engdayehu is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He finished third at the 2024 Berlin Marathon. Career In 2018, Haymanot set a personal best of 42:20 over the 15 km in finishing second at the Le Puy-en-Velay 15 km. In June, he placed tenth over 3000 m at the Golden Spike Ostrava in 7:43.26. At the 2018 African Championships in Asaba, Haymanot placed eighth over 5000 m. Haymanot ran his debut marathon at the Porto Marathon on 6 November 2022, finishing second in 2:11:10. On 12 February 2023, he improved his personal best to 2:05:57 at the Dubai Marathon. On 28 April 2024, Haymanot finished second at the Haspa Hamburg Marathon running a new personal best of 2:05.30. 2024 Berlin Marathon
The 2024 Berlin Marathon was the 50th edition of the annual Berlin Marathon, marathon race in Berlin, held on Sunday, September 29, 2024. A World Athletics Label Road Races, Platinum Label marathon, it was the fourth of six World Marathon Majors events scheduled for 2024. A total of 54,280 runners completed the marathon making it the largest marathon in the world at that time. This record was later surpassed at the 2024 New York City Marathon which had 55,646 finishers. Ethiopian runner Tigist Ketema, Tigst Ketema won the women's race with a time of 2:16:42. Fellow Ethiopian runner Milkesa Mengesha won the men's race with a time of 2:03:17. Asaba (''Igbo:'' ''Ahaba'') is the capital of Delta State, Nigeria. A rapidly growing urban area, it is located on the western bank of the Niger River and is the seat of the Oshimili South Local Government Area. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least .
