Asaba
Asaba (''Igbo:'' ''Ahaba'') is the capital of Delta State, Nigeria. A rapidly growing urban area, it is located on the western bank of the Niger River and is the seat of the Oshimili South Local Government Area. Asaba had a population of 149,603 as at the 2006 census, and a fast growing metropolitan population of over half a million people. In some respects, Asaba and neighboring Onitsha in Anambra State form a continuous metropolitan region. The First and Second Niger bridges traverse the boundary between Delta and Anambra with the Niger's relatively centralized location in this region marking it as the geopolitical border between Eastern and Western Nigeria. In October 2023, Asaba joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and was named a UNESCO City of Film. Delta State
Delta is a States of Nigeria, state in the South South (Nigeria), South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Anioma
The Anioma people ('' /æˈniːɒmɑː/ ah-NEE-o-ma, US: /əˈniːɒmɑː/ uh-NEE-o-mah;'' ''Ndí Ániọ̀mà'') present day Delta State, Nigeria. The Anioma people encompass and are native to the nine northeastern Local Government Areas of Delta State and the Ika communities of Edo State. Politically, the Anioma occupy the Delta North Senatorial District where they are the majority group. Today, the population of the Anioma is estimated today to be at approximately 1.8 million. Epiphany Azinge
His Royal Majesty Asagba Prof Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, (born 13 November 1957) is the current Asagba of Asaba and a renowned Nigerian legal luminary and academic. He served as the 5th Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies from 2009 and 2014. He is a Judge at the Commonwealth Arbitral Tribunal sitting in London, where he represents Nigeria and Africa. He is the founder and senior partner at Azinge & Azinge, a law firm in Abuja where his wife Valerie Azinge (also a SAN) is also a partner. He emerged Asagba in 2024 following the passing of his predecessor, Prof. Joseph Chike Edozien. He holds the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and is widely regarded as a symbol of intellectual excellence and cultural leadership within Nigeria and across the African continent. Igbuzo
Igbuzo (''Ibusa)'' ( is an Igbo community in Delta State, Nigeria, founded ''c.'' 1450. The community is in Oshimili North. It has an estimated population of 566,310 people in 2009. The people speak the Enuani dialect of the Igbo language. Oshimili South
Oshimili South Local Government Area is one of the twenty-five Local Government Areas making up Delta State. It is situated in the Niger Delta Region/the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria. It was part of the Asaba Division of the Southern Protectorate in Colonial Nigeria and later a part of the Western Region following the delineation of the country into Three Regions through the Richard's Constitution of 1946. It later became part of the Mid-Western Region in 1963, and Mid-Western State in 1967. It became part of Bendel State and was carved out of the old Asaba Division in 1976 as part of Oshimili Local Government. River Niger Bridge (Onitsha)
The River Niger Bridge or Onitsha Bridge is a bridge that connects the southeastern and western regions of Nigeria across the Niger River. The bridge, which was completed in 1965, is located in Onitsha, Anambra State, and links to Asaba, Delta State. The bridge has two lanes and a pedestrian walkway, and is often congested with traffic and informal traders. Second Niger Bridge
The Second Niger bridge is a Nigerian Federal Government project that is long and furnished with other ancillary infrastructure including a highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station all at Obosi city near Onitsha, inaugurated in March 2022. It opened for local traffic on December 15, 2022. Onitsha
Onitsha ( or simply ''Ọ̀nị̀chà'') is a city on the eastern bank of the Niger River, in Anambra State, Nigeria. Onitsha along with various cities and towns in southern Anambra State, northern Imo State and neighboring Delta State on the western bank of the Niger River, form a continuous metropolitan area.
