Hawaii Department Of Education
The Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE, ) is a statewide public education system in the United States. The school district can be thought of as analogous to the school districts of other cities and communities in the United States, but in some manners can also be thought of as analogous to the state education agencies of other states. As the official state education agency, the Hawaii State Department of Education oversees all 258 public schools and 37 charter schools and over 13,000 teachers in the State of Hawaii, serving approximately 167,649 students statewide (School Year 2023-24). The U.S. Census Bureau classifies this as a "dependent school system", that is dependent on the Hawaiian state government. The HIDOE is currently headed by Superintendent Keith Hayashi (since July 1, 2022). Linda Lingle
Linda Lingle (; June 4, 1953) is an American politician who served as the sixth governor of Hawaii from 2002 to 2010. She was the first Republican elected governor of Hawaii since 1959, and was the state's first female and first Jewish governor.
