Allen Hatcher
Allen Edward Hatcher (born October 23, 1944) is an American mathematician specializing in geometric topology. Biography Hatcher was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts, B.A. and Bachelor of Music, B.Mus. from Oberlin College in 1966, he went for his graduate studies to Stanford University, where he received his Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. in 1971. His thesis, ''A K2 Obstruction for Pseudo-Isotopies'', was written under the supervision of Hans Samelson. Afterwards, Hatcher went to Princeton University, where he was an National Science Foundation, NSF postdoc for a year, then a lecturer for another year, and then Assistant Professor from 1973 to 1979. He was also a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in 1975–76 and 1979–80. Hatcher moved to the University of California, Los Angeles as an assistant professor in 1977. Julian Hatcher
Julian Sommerville Hatcher (June 26, 1888 – December 4, 1963) was a major general in the United States Army. As a firearms expert, he wrote technical books and articles relating to military firearms, ballistics, and autoloading weapons. He also pioneered the forensic identification of firearms and ammunition. Biography Hatcher was born in Hayfield, Virginia, and graduated with honors from the United States Naval Academy in 1909. He transferred out of the Navy, due to chronic sea sickness, and was assigned to the Army Coast Artillery Corps. Hatcher married Eleanor Dashiell, daughter of naval ordnance expert Robert B. Dashiell, in October 1910. The couple had three children. Wiley Ward Hatcher (May 3, 1828???) was an American businessman and politician. He served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly representing Fond du Lac County. Biography Wiley Ward Hatcher was born in Henry County, Tennessee, on May 3, 1828. His parents both died of typhoid fever just two years later, leaving him an orphan. He was sent to live with his mother's brother, James Baker. He had little education as a child, but at age seventeen went off on his own, working as a farmhand in the summers and attending school in the winters. In 1849, he went west for the California Gold Rush. He took a ship from New Orleans around Cape Horn, and stopped briefly in Valparaíso, before arriving in California. Ragen Hatcher (born July 5, 1978) is an American politician from Gary, Indiana. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, she serves in the Indiana House of Representatives. Hatcher is the daughter of Richard G. Hatcher, a former mayor of Gary. She served on Gary's city council from 2007 through 2011. Hatcher ran for mayor of Gary in 2011, but lost the election. She was elected to the city council for another term in 2015. She ran for the third district in the Indiana House of Representatives in the 2018 elections to succeed Charlie Brown (Indiana politician), Charlie Brown, and won. Born in Ada, Oklahoma, he moved with his family to Denver as a child, then after finishing college he moved to Gunnison, Colorado and began teaching at Western State College (now Western Colorado University), where he taught for 44 years. Elections Hatcher first ran for the state senate in 1974. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the general election, he initially faced long-term incumbent Republican Harry M. Lillian Hatcher (1915–1998) was an African American riveter and union organizer. She was employed at the Briggs aircraft plant in Detroit when she first became active in union organizing after the company transferred a group of female employees, white and black, all of whom had children, to the midnight shift. Life and work Lillian Hatcher was born on May 30, 1915, in Greenville, Alabama. She graduated from Northeastern High School in Detroit and attended workers' extension classes at the University of Michigan in the early 1940s. In 1943 she began work as an aircraft riveter and as one of the first Black women hired at Chrysler's Briggs-Connor Plant.
