Haoui Montaug
Haoui Montaug (1952 – June 7, 1991) was a doorman of the New York City nightclubs Hurrah, Mudd Club, Danceteria, Studio 54, and the Palladium. Montaug also ran the roving cabaret revue No Entiendes which showcased among others a young Madonna and early performances by the Beastie Boys. Career At the time of his death Montaug was Panel Director of the New Music Seminar (NMS). Following his death the NMS inaugurated the Haoui Montaug New Music Awards in his honour. In the late 1980s Montaug was the doorman for the Paradise Garage club and the Tunnel His skills at choosing who went on the guest list at the Garage were described as a "'willy nilly' affair with little logic or reason". Simon Topping of the British dance project Quando Quango had to rely on his banter to get past Montaug and get permission for the group to perform at the Garage. Quando Quango
Quando Quango were a British electronic music group, formed by The Haçienda DJ and Factory Records A&R man Mike Pickering, Hillegonda Rietveld and Reinier Rietveld. Their unique sound influenced the underground dance music scenes in New York and Chicago in the 1980s. Their first release was the "Go Exciting" twelve-inch single on Factory Records in 1982, and their last release of new music was the 1985 full-length album '' Pigs + Battleships'' (reissued on CD by LTM Recordings in 2003 and 2013). Music Quando Quango remain best known for the dance singles "Love Tempo," which reached number four on the US ''Billboard'' Dance Chart, and "Atom Rock." Secobarbital, sold under the brand name Seconal among others, is a short-acting barbiturate drug originally used for the treatment of insomnia. It was patented by Eli Lilly and Company in 1934 in the United States. It possesses anesthetic, anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, sedative, and hypnotic properties. In the United Kingdom, it was known as quinalbarbitone. Secobarbital is considered to be an obsolete sedative-hypnotic (sleeping pill) and has largely been replaced by the benzodiazepine family. It was widely abused, known on the street as "red devils" or "reds." "Everybody" is a song written and recorded by American singer Madonna and produced by DJ Mark Kamins. In 1982, while living in New York City with former boyfriend Stephen Bray, Madonna created a demo featuring four dance tracks, including "Everybody". Without a record deal, she promoted the tape herself by visiting nightclubs and persuading DJs to play it. At Danceteria, she met Kamins, who played the track to a positive crowd response and later brought it to Sire Records. Impressed, label president Seymour Stein signed Madonna for two twelve-inch singles. Recorded in three days at Bob Blank's Blank Tape Recording Studios, "Everybody" was released on October 6, 1982 as Madonna's debut single, and later included on her 1983 self-titled album. Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Risk factors for suicide include mental disorders, physical disorders, and substance abuse. Some suicides are impulsive acts driven by stress (such as from financial or academic difficulties), relationship problems (such as breakups or divorces), or harassment and bullying. Edo Bertoglio (born 1951 in Lugano) is a Swiss photographer, film director and screenwriter. He is the director of '' Downtown 81'' and '' Face Addict''. Life and work Edo Bertoglio received his degree in film directing and editing from the Conservatoire Libre du Cinema Francais in Paris in 1975. In 1976, he moved to New York City, where he worked as a photographer for ''Italian Vogue'', Andy Warhol's ''Interview'' and other magazines. He became involved in the downtown art and music scenes of the late 70s and early 80s which led to his participation in the New York/New Wave exhibition at the MoMA PS1 gallery in Long Island City in 1981. During this time, Bertoglio took photos of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Grace Jones and Madonna among others.
