Hansa Records (also known as Hansa, Hansa Musik Produktion or Hansa International) was a record label based in Berlin, Germany founded in 1962. History In the early 1960s, brothers Peter and Thomas Meisel, grandchildren of Will Meisel, who was the founder of German music publisher Edition Meisel & Co. GmbH, assumed responsibility of the family's publishing company upon their grandfather's retirement, and founded Hansa Musik Produktion company and the Hansa record label in 1962. The label's name (and the name of the related recording studio) was inspired by the Hanseatic League, a medieval Northern European maritime trade network. Initially, the label focused on German artists and Schlager music, later finding commercial success with artists such as Frank Farian's Boney M., Amii Stewart, Aneka, Modern Talking, Milli Vanilli, and others. Killing An Arab
"Killing an Arab" is the debut single by English rock band the Cure. It was recorded at the same time as their first album ''Three Imaginary Boys'' (1979), but not included on the album. However, it was included on the band's first US album, '' Boys Don't Cry'' (1980). The song's title and lyrics reference Albert Camus's 1942 novella ''The Stranger''. Because of the title, the song has drawn controversy for what critics have described as promoting violence against Arabs, which songwriter Robert Smith pinned on the public's lack of knowledge regarding the novel. Shortly after its release, Smith said, "It just happened that the main character in the book had actually killed an Arab, but it could have been a Scandinavian or an English bloke." In 2003, Smith acknowledged that, "If I knew it before, I would have called it 'Standing on the Beach'. It would have avoided many troubles." Child (band)
Child are a British pop group that released a number of records, including a top-10 single in 1978. The band were originally a four-piece, consisting of Dave Cooper (guitar), Graham Bilbrough (vocals) and twins Keith (bass guitar) and Tim Atack (drums). Following the release of the first four singles Dave Cooper left to form rock band Crash Alley and Mike Mckenzie joined on bass guitar with Keith Atack switching to guitar. Blue System was a German pop group that was founded by Dieter Bohlen in 1987 after the break-up of Modern Talking. Angletrax was a British new wave/punk rock group that existed in the late 1970s, who were signed to Germany's Hansa Records label. The members were: Wendy Herman (vocals), Martin Heath (bass), Lin Jammet (guitar), Jerry Minge (keyboards), Dan Who (drums).
