The Hamburg Sea Devils are an American football team in Hamburg, Germany, that plays in the European League of Football (ELF). They played in the ELF Championship Games 2021 and 2022, and lost both. History The Hamburg franchise was announced in November 2020, as part of the inaugural season of the European League of Football. In March 2021, ELF announced it has reached an agreement with the NFL, to be able to use the team names from the days of NFL Europe. On the same day, it was announced Hamburg will use the name of the defunct NFL Europe franchise Hamburg Sea Devils. The Sea Devils also introduced their new head coach, former special teams coach for multiple NFL teams, Ted Daisher. However, he ended up being released only 3 weeks into the inaugural season, because of "different views and expectations regarding the philosophy and leadership of our team". Kasim Edebali
Kasim Edebali (born August 17, 1989) is a German-American former professional football defensive end. He played college football at Boston College and was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2014. Edebali is Cameron Jordan's brother-in-law. Early life Edebali, the son of Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Stradford, and Turkish mother, Nesrin Edebali, grew up in Hamburg, Germany and played for the Hamburg Huskies. At age 18, he was recruited to play college football in Meriden, New Hampshire, where he attended Kimball Union Academy as part of the USA Football International Student Program, and played high school football for two years. 2025 European League Of Football Season
The 2025 ELF season is the fifth season of the European League of Football, a professional American football league based in Europe. Sixteen teams from nine countries will participate. The season starts on May 17, 2025, and will conclude with the ''ELF Championship Game'' in the MHPArena Stuttgart, Germany on September 7, 2025. Format The 16 teams are divided into four divisions of 4 teams. Each team plays 12 games during the regular season, six in the division and two games versus one from each other division. On January 29, 2025 the league announced to expand the ''homegrown'' territories for multiple teams. Most of each teams' players need to be ''homegrown'', i.e. they need to have started playing football in the same country that the team is based in. 2024 European League Of Football Season
The 2024 ELF season was the fourth season of the European League of Football, a professional American football league based in Europe. Seventeen teams from nine countries participated. The season started on May 25, and concluded with the ''ELF Championship Game'' in the Veltins-Arena Gelsenkirchen, Germany on September 22, 2024. Incumbent champion Rhein Fire won the title again, beating Vienna Vikings 51-20. Format The teams are divided into three conferences of 5 or 6 teams. Each team plays 12 games during the regular season. The winner of each conference, as well as the next best 3 teams, regardless of conference, qualify for the playoffs. Charles "Yogi" Jones
Charles "Yogi" Jones is a former American football linebacker who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at University of Pittsburgh. For the 2022 European League of Football season he is the new head coach of the Hamburg Sea Devils. Early years Jones arrived as a freshman at Pitt in 1978. He played his last game as a fifth-year-senior tri-captain for the No. 1-ranked University of Pittsburgh team in 1982. The 2021 Hamburg Sea Devils season was the first season of the new Hamburg Sea Devils team in the inaugural season of the European League of Football. Brandon Patrick Noble (born April 10, 1974) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League for the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins.
