HMS LCT 147
''LCT 147'' is an amphibious assault ship for landing tanks, other vehicles and troops on beachheads. Built in 1941 by Stockton Construction, Thornaby-on-Tees, the Mark 2 ''LCT 147'' took part in the Invasion of North Africa in June 1943. The ship was converted to a Landing Craft Rocket at Portsmouth Dockyard from March through May 1943 and renamed ''LCT(2)(R) 147''. ''LCT 147'' was decommissioned in 1946, and transferred to the Italian Navy but was sold to commercial service later that year until being acquired by the Mossad LeAliyah Bet. The ship was absorbed into the Israeli navy and became a museum ship in Haifa. Design The LCT Mark 2 was longer and wider than the Mark 1, with three Paxman diesel or Napier Lion petrol engines replacing the Hall-Scotts. At , it had three times the range of its predecessor. Clandestine Immigration And Naval Museum
The Clandestine Immigration and Naval Museum () is a technical history museum located in Haifa, Israel. The museum covers the maritime history of Israel – from clandestine immigration during the Mandatory Palestine, British Mandate for Palestine through the history of the Israeli navy since its inception. The museum is named after David HaCohen, one of the leaders of the Jewish Yishuv. It was established by Colonel Yoske Coral and opened to the public in 1969. The museum is run by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. It stands next to the Israeli National Maritime Museum, dedicated to maritime history and archaeology. Thornaby-on-Tees, commonly referred to as Thornaby, is a town and Civil parishes in England, civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, north of York and south-east of Middlesbrough. On the south bank of the River Tees, Thornaby falls within the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the Tees Valley area. The parish had a population of 24,741 at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census. The town was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1892, during the Victorian era. ''Exodus 1947'' was a Packet boat, packet steamship that was built in the United States in 1928 as ''President Warfield'' for the Baltimore Steam Packet Company. From her completion in 1928 until 1942 she carried passengers and freight across Chesapeake Bay between Norfolk, Virginia, Norfolk, Virginia and Baltimore, Maryland.
