HC Berkut
Berkut Hockey Club ( uk, ХК Беркут, ''HC Berkut'') was a Ukrainian professional ice hockey team based in Brovary. While its home arena is in Brovary, within the Kyiv region, it also played in the city of Kyiv. It was a founding member of the Professional Hockey League of Ukraine, before being expelled by the League and forfeited from the 2013 playoffs. The organization's current focus is its youth development program. The team's name, Berkut, means golden eagle. History Financial dispute The team was expelled by the League and forfeited from the 2013 playoffs for not fulfilling its financial obligations to the League and to its players. Its former captain, Serhiy Klymentiev, along with goaltender Igor Karpenko filed a lawsuit against the club at the conclusion of the season. Brovary
Brovary ( uk, Бровари, , yi, בראָוואַר, Brovar) is a city in Kyiv Oblast (Region) in northern Ukraine, an eastern suburb of the country's capital, Kyiv. It is the administrative centre of Brovary Raion (district). Brovary hosts the administration of Brovary urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Igor Vasilovich Karpenko (, Ihor Vasylyovych Karpenko; born July 23, 1976) is a Ukrainian former professional ice hockey goaltender who last played for Sokil Kyiv of the Professional Hockey League. He was selected 185th overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft and spent one season in North America playing for minor league teams. However the majority of his career was spent in Europe, playing for teams in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Miloš Holaň
Miloš Holaň (born April 22, 1971) is a retired Czech professional ice hockey player and currently the head coach of HC Poruba of the 1st Czech Republic Hockey League, the second tier in the Czech Republic. He played 49 games in the National Hockey League between 1993 and 1996 with the Philadelphia Flyers and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, as well as several seasons in the Czechoslovak and Czech Extraliga. The 2013–14 or XXII Ukrainian Hockey Championship was the 22nd annual edition of the Ukrainian Hockey Championship. Serhiy Volodomyrovych Klymentiev ( ua, Сергій Володимирович Климентьєв; born April 5, 1975) is a Ukrainian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Career Klymentiev was named best defenceman at the C Pool of the 1993 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships held in Odense, Denmark. He played junior hockey for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL during the 1993–1994 and 1994–1995 seasons. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres 121st overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and spent 3 seasons with their American Hockey League affiliate the Rochester Americans. In 1998, he signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and was once more sent to the AHL, suiting up for the Philadelphia Phantoms.
