He had been playing steadily for Uttar Pradesh's Ranji Trophy team, but only began to make his mark around 1996–97 where two consecutive seasons having scored more than 400 runs brought him into national reckoning. Pandey retired from first-class cricket in 2006. He was awarded Maati Ratan Samman by Shaheed Shodha Sansthan for his contribution in cricket in 2016. Uttar Pradesh Cricket Team
The Uttar Pradesh cricket team, formerly United Provinces Cricket Team, is a domestic cricket team which is based in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, run by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. The team competes in the first-class cricket tournament Ranji Trophy and limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They have won the Ranji Trophy in 2005–06 and have been runners-up on five occasions. One Day International
One Day International (ODI) is a format of cricket, played between two teams with international status, in which each team faces a fixed number of fifty overs, with the game lasting up to 7 hours. The World Cup, generally held every four years, is played in this format. They are major matches and considered the highest standard of List A, limited-overs competition. The international one-day game is a late-twentieth-century development. The first ODI was played on 5 January 1971 between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket.
