Guwahati Town Club
Gauhati Town Club is an Indian multi sports club based in Guwahati, Assam. Founded in 1906, the club had participated in the I-League 2, then second highest level football in India, for two seasons. It currently plays in the Guwahati Premier Football League, GSA A Division Football League and Youth League. History 1906–2010 Gauhati Town Club is one of the oldest and the premier sporting organizations in the north-east. It was born at the initiative of a dedicated group of sports-lovers including Captain L. B. Scott, I.M.S., who was a civil surgeon, Dr. H.K. Das, an assistant surgeon and founding secretary of the club; Sir Saiyid Saadullah, an eminent lawyer, and Khan Saheb Khalilur Rahman. Significantly, the club was essentially instrumental in introducing the coveted Bordoloi Trophy tournament, initially played at the Judges' Field from 1952 to 1957. The 2012 I-League 2nd Division was the fifth season of the then second tier of Football in India, using promotion and relegation with the I-League. I-League Clubs
The I-League is the men's second professional football division of the Indian football league system behind the Indian Super League. Administered by the All India Football Federation, it is currently contested by 13 clubs. It operates as a system of promotion and relegation with the Indian Super League (ISL) and the I-League 2. ATPA Shield
The Assam Tea Planters' Association Shield, commonly known as the ATPA Shield Football Tournament or ATPA Shield, is an Indian annual football tournament held in Jorhat, Assam and organised by the Jorhat District Sports Association (JDSA). It is the third oldest football tournament of Assam after All India Independence Day Cup and Bordoloi Trophy. Since its inception in 1955, the tournament was very popular involving some leading clubs from northeast India and rest of the country. Kolkata giants East Bengal, Mohammedan and Mohun Bagan, as well as Dempo of Goa have competed in ATPA Shield. The coveted shield was donated and hosted by Assam Tea Planters' Association (ATPA). Devajit Saikia is an Indian advocate, a former first class cricketer and a cricket administrator. Devajit Saikia is the secretary of the BCCI.
