Guckkasten
Guckkasten () is a South Korean indie rock band. Formed in 2003 under the name The C.O.M. (더 컴), the original lineup consisted of vocalist Ha Hyun-woo, guitarist Jeon Kyu-ho, drummer Lee Jung-gil, and bassist Kim Jin-eok. Due to conscription, The C.O.M. disbanded. In 2007, they regrouped with Kim Ki-bum as bassist under the name Guckkasten, which is the German word for Zograscope. The band intends to make music with psychedelic images hidden under analogous art. History In 2000, Ha Hyun-woo and Lee Jung-gil met while attending the same university. The following year, Jeon Kyu-ho, who earned a crane operation license at the time, was found through the internet. The band was founded in the Hongdae area of Seoul with the name The C.O.M., an acronym for Compass of Music, in 2003. Due to their conscription, the band was dismantled. Ha Hyun-woo
Ha Hyun-woo (born November 25, 1981) is a South Korean singer-songwriter. He is the lead vocal and guitarist of the rock band Guckkasten. Early life On November 25, 1981, Ha Hyun-woo was born in Jangsu, North Jeolla Province. He moved to Ansan, Gyeonggi Province at around age 7, where he spent his elementary, middle, and high school days. Throughout his youth, he tended to be introspective until middle school. His voice did not change drastically during puberty. As a result, he was able to produce high-pitched sounds with ease. Unfortunately, his time spent during his youth was rather unpleasant. He remembers his puberty as being a time of defeat, helplessness, and tearfulness. He held a self-image as an outsider, which had a deep influence on his self-esteem, even after passing through puberty. Pentaport Rock Festival
Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival () is a rock festival which is held annually in Incheon, South Korea for three days in August. Launched in 2006, it is considered one of the biggest live music events in South Korea. The festival covers various genres, but mainly rock music and electronic music. The name came from the five main themes of the festival: music, passion, environment friendly, DIY, and friendship. Location The festival takes place at Dream Park, southern part of Incheon Metropolitan City. ''EBS Hello Rookie Contest'' () is a South Korean music competition aimed at discovering rookies, which began in 2007. The competition began as a project for rookies at The EBS space in 2007, and has been hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and co-hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency and The EBS space since 2008. Jisan Valley Rock Festival
Valley Rock Festival (also known as VRF, Jisan Valley Rock Festival and Ansan Valley Rock Festival) was held annually on the last weekend of July. Sharing many artists, the festival is arranged by 9 Ent, which is Smash Corporation, and in close coordination with Japanese Fuji Rock Festival. In 2009 on the festival's maiden year, there were some controversies regarding the festival's split from neighboring Pentaport Rock Festival. However the festival's sponsor changed to Mnet media in 2010 and CJ E&M in 2011. VRF has been successful and has grown into one of South Korea's biggest music festivals.
