EBS Hello Rookie Contest
''EBS Hello Rookie Contest'' () is a South Korean music competition aimed at discovering rookies, which began in 2007. The competition began as a project for rookies at The EBS space in 2007, and has been hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and co-hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency and The EBS space since 2008. The two teams selected through video screening and public auditions every month have been introduced as "Hello Rookie of the Month (이 달의 헬로 루키)" on the stage of The EBS space, and application qualifications will be given to rookie musicians whose first album has been released for less than 2 years, or who have never released an album. Korea Educational Broadcasting System () or EBS is a South Korean educational public broadcaster and radio network covering South Korean territory, and the only major South Korean radio and television network without a separate regional service. Clazziquai Project (Hangul: ), also known as Clazziquai, is a South Korean electropop band that combines several genres including electronic music, acid jazz and house. The band's first short unofficial albums were released online in 2001, spreading its music through words of "netizens," who positively received the band's music. Crying Nut () is a punk band from South Korea. They are often credited as being pioneers of the Korean punk and indie rock scenes. The group began performing in 1995 in the Hongdae club scene in Seoul. They released their debut album, ''Speed Up Losers,'' in 1998, selling over 100,000 copies. Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Kyeoul (Hangul: 봄여름가을겨울; lit. Spring Summer Autumn Winter), also known as SSAW, was a jazz-rock fusion band from South Korea. SSAW debuted in 1988. It had the hit songs, "Bravo, My Life," and "Somebody's Dream." SSAW disbanded on December 28, 2018, following the death of member Tae-gwan. History 1980s In 1986, Jong Jin-sim, Tae-kwan Jeon, Jae-ha Yoo, and Ki-ho Jang formed a group named Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Kyeoul (meaning "spring, summer, fall, winter" in Korean) with Kim Hyun-sik. The Koxx (Hangul: 칵스) is a South Korean indie rock band that formed in 2009. They are also involved in the production of k-pop songs. History In 2008, The Koxx got together and played a show for an end of the year party with friends. Afterwards they formed a band starting in 2009 and debuted on the reality show ''Hello Rookie''. Monni () is a South Korean rock band signed to Modern Boy Entertainment. The quintet consists of Kim Sin-eui (vocals), Gong Tae-woo (guitar), Lee In-kyoung (bass), and Jung Hoon-tae (drums). Romantic Punch is a rock band based in South Korea, which currently has four members. The band was formed in July 2003 as a Christian indie band "WA★DISH" (Wash the Dishes) and changed its name to "Romantic Punch" in May 2009. They originally had five members, but, Park Hana (the group's bassist), who was on pregnancy leave at the time, left the group on March 9, 2015. No specific reason or explanation was given for her departure. Besides playing at various rock festivals, they perform their solo concert titled "Romantic Party" at regular intervals.
