Guangzhou F.C.
Guangzhou Football Club (), previously Guangzhou Evergrande (), was a Chinese professional Association football, football club based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. Historically, Guangzhou FC played its home matches at various grounds in their home city, most notably at Tianhe Stadium and Yuexiushan Stadium, and most recently at Huadu Stadium. The club's majority shareholders were the now-bankrupt Evergrande Real Estate Group and the e-commerce company Alibaba Group, while the rest of the shares were traded in the Chinese OTC system. The club was founded in 1954, and won several second tier titles before turning professional in 1993. Their results improved, leading to a runners-up spot in China's top tier. The FIFA Club World Cup (FIFA CWC) is an international men's association football competition organised by the ''Fédération Internationale de Football Association'' (FIFA), the sport's global sports governing body, governing body. 1994 Chinese Jia-A League
The 1994 Chinese Jia-A League season was the inaugural season of professional association football and the 33rd top-tier overall league season held in China. The league was expanded to twelve teams and started on April 17, 1994 and ended on November 13 with Dalian Wanda winning the championship. Overview By the start of the 1994 league season the Chinese Football Association had been demanding full professionalism since 1992, this meant that private businesses were allowed to own or sponsor football clubs for the first time. The Chinese FA would also sell the television rights to CCTV for 450,000 Yuan and gain sponsorship for the league from Marlboro. Hu Zhijun
Hu Zhijun ( zh, s=胡志军, p=Hú Zhìjūn; ; born July 24, 1970) is a retired Chinese football player. He won the first Golden Boot Award of Chinese professional football league after scoring 17 goals in the 1994 Chinese Jia-A League. Zhou Sui'an
Zhou Sui'an (born 29 January 1961) is a Chinese football coach. He most recently worked as the manager of China Super League side Hangzhou Greentown. Managerial career Guangzhou Apollo Zhou Sui'an was born in Guangzhou. He became a professional coach after graduating from the Guangzhou Sports Institute. His ties to Guangzhou allowed Zhou Sui'an his first chance to be the Head coach of Guangzhou football team in 1990. He immediately made an impact when he quickly saw the team promoted to the top tier in his first attempt by coming second in the league. Guangzhou, previously romanized as Canton or Kwangchow, is the capital and largest city of Guangdong province in southern China. The Chinese FA Cup (, abbreviated as CFA Cup) is the national knockout cup competition in China organized by the Chinese Football Association. Wu Qunli
Wu Qunli (born March 20, 1960, in Guangzhou) is a Chinese football coach and former international midfield player. As a player he represented Guangzhou FC and Hong Kong First Division League side South China, while internationally he also played for his country in the 1988 Summer Olympics and 1992 AFC Asian Cup. Since retiring he would move into management where he returned to Guangzhou FC as an assistant before becoming their manager for a short spell. Zhao Dayu
Zhao Dayu (; 17 January 1961 – 18 March 2015), also known as , was a Chinese coach, businessman and a former international football striker. He was a naturalized citizen of Japan. As a footballer he played his whole career for Guangzhou F.C., where he was Nicknamed "Dwarf Tiger" because of his short sature, while internationally he was called up to the Chinese national team, where he took part in the 1984 Asian Cup. Mai Chao (born on March 9, 1964, in Guangzhou, Guangdong) is a Chinese football coach and a former international football player. He spent his whole playing career for Guangzhou Apollo as an attacking left-back. After retiring, he moved into management, where he went on to manage Guangzhou twice as well as Shenzhen Xiangxue Eisiti.
