Guaianases (CPTM)
Guaianases is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the limits between Lajeado and Guaianases districts, both in the East Side São Paulo. History In 1987, Governor-elect Orestes Quércia orders to the São Paulo Metropolitan Company a study about the expansion of Metro East-West Line towards Guaianazes. The study results say that just a line expansion would cause its collapse because of overcrowding, indicating that the ideal solution would be revitalize the railway administrated by CBTU. Contradicting studies, Quércia launched the construction on 14 October of that same year. Orestes Quércia
Orestes Quércia () (18 August 1938 – 24 December 2010) was a Brazilian politician. He was the 28th governor of São Paulo State. Quércia moved with his family from Pedregulho to the city of Campinas, where he graduated in journalism. He was also a lawyer and an entrepreneur since 1962, with a diploma from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica. 2014 Brazilian Economic Crisis
From mid-2014 onward, Brazil experienced a severe economic crisis. The country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 3.5% in 2015 and 3.3% in 2016, after which a small economic recovery began. That recovery continued until 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact the economy again. The economic crisis occurred alongside a political crisis that resulted in the impeachment of president Dilma Rousseff. These events combined caused mass popular dissatisfaction with the political system. The cause of the crisis was the aforementioned political crisis, as well as the 2014 commodity price shock, which negatively affected Brazil's exports and reduced the entrance of foreign capital into the economy. However, the most important cause was internal, which is associated with economic measures that didn't achieve the expected results. Mário Covas
Mário Covas Almeida Júnior ( or ; 21 April 1930 – 6 March 2001) was a Brazilian politician. Biography Covas studied engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. He entered politics in his native city of Santos, in the state of São Paulo. He was elected federal representative, mayor of São Paulo City (1983–1985), senator and twice Governor of the state of São Paulo (1994–1998 and 1998–2001).
