''Grow'' is the debut studio album by American progressive rock band Chon. It was released on March 23, 2015, through Sumerian Records. It was the band's last release to feature bassist Drew Pelisek. The album features several new compositions, along with several that had previously appeared elsewhere. ‘Knot’, ‘Suda’ and ‘Echo’ (formerly ‘Ecco’) are all pulled from the bands second EP, Woohoo! while ‘Perfect Pillow’ is based on ‘The Perfect Pillow’ from their original 2008 self-titled EP. Chon (band)
Chon (sometimes stylized as CHON) was an American progressive rock band from Oceanside, California. Their music is largely instrumental with only a few songs containing vocal performances. The final line up of the band consisted of Mario Camarena (guitar), Erick Hansel (guitar), Esiah Camarena (bass) and Nathan Camarena (drums). History Early career In 2008, they began releasing demos via the internet. In 2010, the band began a brief hiatus, but reunited in 2011 to record two new songs, "O.G." and "Breathe". They returned in 2013 with the release of their debut EP entitled ''Newborn Sun''. In 2014, Chon released their second EP, entitled ''Woohoo!'' and embarked on two consecutive nationwide tours with Animals as Leaders. Matt Garstka
Matthew Wolfgang Garstka (born April 27, 1989) is an American drummer, best known for his work with instrumental progressive metal band Animals as Leaders. Biography Garstka, son of professional guitar player Greg Garstka, was born in Hopewell, Virginia, and raised in Westfield, Massachusetts. He started playing drums at the age of 8. At the age of 12 he started gigging with his father, playing rock, blues and reggae music. At 14 Garstka met Jo Sallins, who introduced him to fusion, funk, Latin and jazz drumming.
