G4S is a British multinational private security company headquartered in London, England. The company was set up in July 2004 when London-based Securicor amalgamated with Danish firm Group 4 Falck. The company offers a range of services, including the supply of security personnel, monitoring equipment, response units and secure prisoner transportation. G4S also works with governments overseas to deliver security services. G4S is the world's largest security company measured by revenues. It has operations in more than 90 countries. With over 533,000 employees, by 2012 it was the largest European and African private employer. The company has been criticised and involved in numerous controversies. Dual-listed Company
A dual-listed company or DLC is a corporate structure in which two corporations function as a single operating business through a legal equalization agreement, but retain separate legal identities and stock exchange listings. Virtually all DLCs are cross-border, and have tax and other advantages for the corporations and their stockholders. In a conventional merger or acquisition, the merging companies become a single legal entity, with one business buying the outstanding shares of the other. However, when a DLC is created, the two companies continue to exist, and to have separate bodies of shareholders, but they agree to share all the risks and rewards of the ownership of all their operating businesses in a fixed proportion, laid out in a contract called an "equalization agreement". Group 4 was a security business operating primarily in the United Kingdom and latterly worldwide. The company was established in 1968, bringing together four British security businesses. It was involved in a series of controversies, including prisoner escapes, in the 1990s.
