Gribben Head
Gribbin Head () is a promontory on the south coast of Cornwall, England, UK, owned and managed by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, National Trust. It separates St Austell Bay from the estuary of the River Fowey and is marked by a large tower used to aid navigation of ships approaching the local harbours. The nearest town is Fowey. The western point of the headland is called Little Gribbin. Gribbin Head is the most southerly part of the parish of Fowey. To the north, and facing west across St Austell Bay is the small village of Polkerris, beyond which is the harbour at Par, Cornwall, Par. To the east is Polridmouth cove and the Fowey estuary, where the town of Fowey itself is situated. Twelveheads Press was an independent publishing company based in Chacewater near Truro, Cornwall, UK. Best known for their ''Cornish Heritage'' series but also well known by scholars and enthusiasts for their transport and mining books: the firm took its name from the nearby hamlet of Twelveheads. History and philosophy Founded by Michael Messenger and John Stengelhofen in 1977 they have been producing high quality books for over 40 years. Their specialist books include topics such as maritime, mining and railway history, and mostly cover the areas of Cornwall and Southwest Britain. In 1988 Messenger and Stengelhofen were joined by Alan Kittridge and all three have contributed significantly to their titles.
