Grand Canyonscope
''Grand Canyonscope'' is a Donald Duck animated short released in 1954. It was Disney's second cartoon filmed in CinemaScope (following ''Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom''), and was produced to accompany Disney's first CinemaScope film ''20,000 Leagues Under the Sea''. (One joke has J. Audubon Woodlore breaking the fourth wall stating to the tourists in the CinemaScope version, "Uh, spread out, folks, this is CinemaScope." or in the flat version, "Uh, spread out, folks, this is a big canyon.") Plot Donald is taking a tour of the Grand Canyon. Although he just wants to enjoy the whole exhibition, this is made all but impossible by the constant admonishment from the rulebook-wielding tour guide: none other than Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore. Charles August Nichols
Charles August "Nick" Nichols (September 15, 1910 – August 23, 1992) was an American animator and film director, who worked in animation for over 50 years at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Hanna-Barbera. At Disney, he worked on various short subjects and films from the 1940s into the 1950s, including the Academy Award-winning short ''Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom'' (1953). Nichols co-directed ''Charlotte's Web'' (1973) while at Hanna-Barbera. Biography Nichols was born in Milford, Utah. As an animator for Disney, his first credit was on the film ''Pinocchio'', where he was the lead animator for the villainous Coachman. During World War II, Nichols animated several short subjects, including ''First Aiders'' (1944) and numerous cartoons involving the character Pluto. The authors of ''The World Encyclopedia of Cartoons'' opined Nichols' animation style made Pluto an "even more likable character." Cougar
The cougar (''Puma concolor'') is a large cat native to the Americas. Its range spans from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes in South America and is the most widespread of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere. It is an adaptable, generalist species, occurring in most American habitat types. This wide range has brought it many common names, including puma, mountain lion, catamount and panther (for the Florida sub-population). In physics, mathematics, and related fields, a wave is a propagating dynamic disturbance (change from equilibrium) of one or more quantities. Waves can be periodic, in which case those quantities oscillate repeatedly about an equilibrium (resting) value at some frequency. Jimmy MacDonald (sound Effects Artist)
John James MacDonald (May 19, 1906 – February 1, 1991) was a foley artist, voice actor, musician and conductor. He was the original head of the Disney sound effects department, and was also the 2nd official voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947 to 1976 and again in 1978 after Walt Disney stopped playing the character and before Wayne Allwine became the third voice of Mickey in 1983. Early life MacDonald was born on May 19, 1906, in Crewe, Cheshire. His parents were Richard William MacDonald and Minnie Hall. The family emigrated to America when MacDonald was 1 month old. They travelled via the SS Haverford from Liverpool, England, arriving in Pennsylvania fifteen days later. Career Sound effects As a young man, MacDonald landed a job as a musician on the Dollar Steam Ship Lines, which in 1934 led to an opportunity to record music for a Disney cartoon.
