''Gordian Knot'' is the debut album of Sean Malone's progressive rock project of the same name. The cover of the album features an image from a bubble chamber – an early particle detector. The song "Reflections" was first demoed by guitarist Glenn Snelwar in 1994 for his solo project, At War With Self, and also appears on the band's third album, '' A Familiar Path'', released in 2009. John Myung
John Ro Myung ( ; born January 24, 1967) is an American bassist and a founding member of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. Background and personal life Born in Chicago to South Korean parents, Myung grew up with John Petrucci on Long Island. He took violin lessons from the age of five and started playing bass guitar at fifteen. After graduating from high school, he and Petrucci enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, where they met Mike Portnoy. The trio became the nucleus of Dream Theater, which became Myung's primary professional focus. Style Myung mainly uses a two or three finger picking style in his playing. He sometimes uses slapping and popping on some songs, such as "The Dark Eternal Night", and also uses tapping and harmonics in his bass playing. Death (metal Band)
Death was an American death metal band formed in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1983 by guitarist Chuck Schuldiner (who later became the band's sole vocalist), drummer/vocalist Kam Lee and guitarist Rick Rozz. Formed out of what would become the Florida death metal scene, Death is considered to be a pioneering band in death metal. The band's 1987 debut album, '' Scream Bloody Gore'', has been widely regarded as one of the first death metal records, alongside the first records from Possessed and Necrophagia. Death had a revolving lineup, with Schuldiner, aside from a European tour, being the sole consistent member. Sean Reinert
Sean Landon Reinert (May 27, 1971 – January 24, 2020) was an American musician. He was the drummer for the rock band Æon Spoke and the drummer and cofounder of the progressive metal band Cynic along with Paul Masvidal until leaving the band in September 2015. Career In 1991, Reinert and Paul Masvidal (also of Cynic) joined the band Death to record the ''Human'' album. This album is seen by many as the start of the technical death metal genre. After touring with Death, he returned to Cynic. 1993 saw the release of ''Focus'' (regarded as a landmark release in the field of technical/progressive metal) on the Roadrunner Records label. Adam Levy (musician)
Adam Levy is a jazz guitarist who was a member of Norah Jones's band. Career Levy was born in Encino, California. Two of his uncles and one cousin played guitar, and his mother briefly took lessons. His grandfather, George Wyle, worked for ''The Andy Williams Show'' and '' The Flip Wilson Show'' on television as music director. As a teenager, Levy was a member of a local big band. Watchtower is an American progressive metal band based in Austin, Texas, active from 1982 to 1993 and they have reunited occasionally since 1999. Blotted Science is an instrumental progressive metal supergroup headed by Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink), bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) and drummer Hannes Grossmann (ex- Obscura, ex-Necrophagist). They formed under the name Machinations of Dementia, but later changed their name to Blotted Science ('' Machinations of Dementia'' would be the title of their first publicly purchasable album). Spastic Ink
Spastic Ink was an American progressive metal band. History Spastic Ink was formed in 1993 by guitarist Ron Jarzombek of Watchtower after recovering from multiple hand surgeries that rendered him unable to play for a number of years. He would be joined by brother Bobby Jarzombek on drums and bass player Pete Perez (both of Riot at the time). The trio soon recorded a demo album consisting of 11 songs which was brought to various labels in hopes of landing a record deal and the necessary funds to re-record the material properly. However, the band's experimental style was deemed "not commercially viable" and these attempts were unsuccessful. Ron Jarzombek
Ron Jarzombek is an American guitarist best known for his work with WatchTower, Spastic Ink, and Blotted Science, featuring Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse. His most recent project is Terrestrial Exiled. He released a brand new song, "Beyond Life And Cosmic Kinetics" (B.L.A.C.K.), as an interactive six-track multi-tracking app in November 2012. Jarzombek has guested with a number of artists ranging from fellow guitarists Marty Friedman and Jeff Loomis to death metal outfits Obscura and Odious Mortem as well as Protest The Hero. KTU (band)
KTU (pronounced K2) is a Finnish-American progressive/experimental musical supergroup. In 2004, Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto started collaborating with Kimmo Pohjonen and Samuli Kosminen, forming KTU out of their respective duos TU and Kluster. History Pohjonen and Kosminen formed Kluster in 2001. Both award-winning musicians are known as adventurers in their respective fields and their partnership takes accordion music to new and unexplored territory.
