Gopala-Krishna
Gopala Krishna ( sa, गोपालकृष्ण, translit=Gopālakṛṣṇa, lit=cow-protector Krishna) refers to a form of the Hindu deity Krishna, as featured in the Harivamsha and the Puranas. The narratives of Gopala Krishna are set in the cowherd settlement of the Vraja region called Gokulam, where he is raised by his foster-parents, Nanda and Yashoda. Historically one of the earliest forms of worship in Krishnaism, it is believed to be a key element of the early history of the worship of Krishna. This tradition is considered separate from the associated traditions of Bala Krishna and Radha Krishna, that led to amalgamation under Bhagavatism at a later stage of historical development. ''Gopal Krishna'' (Child Krishna) is an Indian cinema, Indian religious silent film made in List of Bollywood films of 1929, 1929. It was directed by V. Shantaram for his newly formed Prabhat Film Company. The film was a "solo debut" for Shantaram, after co-directing Netaji Palkar (film), Netaji Palkar (1927) with K. Dhaiber for the Maharashtra Film Company. The story was written by Shivram Vashikar and the cast composed of Suresh, Kamaladevi, Anant Apte, Sakribai and G.R. Mane. The story was about the child (Gopal) Krishna and his fight with King Kamsa of Mathura. Made in the Pre-Independence Day (India), Independence era, the film was cited as representing the "Gandhian anti-colonial nationalism". ''Gopal Krishna'' is a List of Bollywood films of 1938, 1938 Marathi and Hindi mythological social film from Prabhat Film Company. The film was a remake of Prabhat Film Company's first silent film ''Gopal Krishna (1929 film), Gopal Krishna'' (1929). It was made in Marathi language, Marathi and Hindi simultaneously. The film was directed by Sheikh Fattelal and V. G. Damle and starred Ram Marathe, Shanta Apte, Parshuram, Prahlad, Ulhas and Ganpatrao. The story was written by Shivram Vashikar and the music was by Krishnarao. Based on the young Lord Krishna, the story is less mythology and more about a social awareness for change. The film was made during the pre-independent India era when the resentment against British Raj, British rule was high. The film makers metaphorically used the story of the boy Krishna and the cowherds against the oppressive King Kamsa, portraying the feelings of the Indians against the British mainly through dialogue. Gopal Krishna (born 12 March 1948) is an Indian radio astronomer and a senior professor at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics. Known for his studies on Radio galaxies and quasars, Krishna is an elected fellow of all the three major Indian science academies viz. Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, India and Indian National Science Academy. Thirukkavalampadi or Gopalakrishna Perumal Temple is located in Thirunangur in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu.
