Good Charamel Records
Good Charamel Records is an indie record label based in Buffalo, New York started by Robby Takac, founding member of the American Rock band Goo Goo Dolls (Bassist and Vocals) in 2003. Specializing in female fronted Japanese rock bands, the label began signing and releasing music in North America for local Buffalo bands as well as releasing compilations and charity discs in the Western New York area. As a result of a 2006 tour of Japan with the Good Charamel act The Juliet Dagger a relationship was struck between the legendary Osaka pop punk band Shonen Knife and Good Charamel Records, Good Charamel hosted Shonen Knife's tour of America with The Juliet Dagger and Verona Grove in 2007. In 2009, Good Charamel released Shonen Knife's "Super Group" album and began signing other Japanese rock acts, then releasing and producing music and DVDs by Japanese artists exclusively. Robby Takac
Robert Carl Takac Jr. (born September 30, 1964) is an American rock bassist and vocalist. Takac is one of the founding members of the Goo Goo Dolls, along with John Rzeznik. Background Takac was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up in the Buffalo suburb of West Seneca with his parents and younger sister. His mother was a school teacher and Irish Catholic. His father was half-Irish and half- Hungarian. This is reflected by his name (originally written: Takács, which is Hungarian for 'weaver'). He graduated from West Seneca East Senior High School in 1982. He graduated from Medaille College in 1986 with a Communication degree, with a focus on radio broadcasting. Music career Takac began his musical career as a member of the rock band Monarch, prior to joining the Beaumonts, which broke up in 1985. Verona Grove
Verona Grove was an American pop punk band from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The band is signed to Pat's Record Company, a subsidiary of Universal Records. Members include singer/guitarist Tony Anders, bass guitar/background singer Charlie Wilhelm, and drummer Josh Helm. The Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards nominated Verona Grove for their 2009 artist of the year, and it won the 2009 Rock Artist of the Year. History The band formed as high school students in Fond du Lac in early 2000. In 2003, the band beat around 100 bands to win the "Big Gig Competition" hosted on Summerfest.com, which led to a set opening for Sum 41 at Summerfest 2003. Osaka Ramones
''Osaka Ramones'' is Japanese pop-punk group Shonen Knife's 16th studio album. All of the songs on the album are cover songs of the punk group Ramones. The album's cover art takes its inspiration from the Ramones album '' Road to Ruin''. Five songs on the album were recorded in at GCR Audio in Buffalo, New York with Producer Robby Takac in late 2010 and it was intended to be a mini-album. Lead singer/guitarist/songwriter Naoko Yamano later decided that ''Osaka Ramones'' would be a full-length album celebrating Shonen Knife's 30th anniversary. DJ Sashimi is a Japanese DJ, musician, J-Pop artist whose first single "Japanese Girl in NY" was released by Good Charamel Records in 2010. The single Japanese Girl in NY was also included in Volume 1 of the I Love J Rock compilations. DJ Sashimi is produced by Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac. Shonen Knife
Shonen Knife is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Influenced by 1960s girl groups, pop bands, the Beach Boys, and early punk rock bands such as the Ramones, the band crafts stripped-down songs with simple yet unconventional lyrics sung both in Japanese and English.
