Glyka Nera
Glyka Nera (Greek: Γλυκά Νερά , meaning "sweet waters", named after an underground water source) is a suburb in the northeastern part of Athens Metropolitan Area. Since the 2011 local government reform it belongs to the East Attica regional unit and is part of the municipality Paiania, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 9.238 km2. Geography Glyka Nera is situated on the eastern slope of the northernmost part of the forested Hymettus mountain. It is 11 km east of central Athens, and 11 km northwest of the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. Adjacent towns are Gerakas to the northeast and Paiania to the south. The A62 Hymettus Ring Road (formerly the A64 until 2024) passes north of the town. Paiania
Paiania (, , before 1915: Λιόπεσι - ''Liopesi'', ; Arvanitika: Λοπε̱σ romanized: Lopës) is a town and a municipality in East Attica, Greece. It is an eastern suburb of Athens, located east of Mount Hymettus. It is 11 km east of Athens city centre. Hymettus (), also Hymettos (; ; ), is a mountain range in the Athens area of Attica, East Central Greece. It is also colloquially known as ''Trellós'' (crazy) or ''Trellóvouno'' (crazy mountain); the latter originates from the French "très long" (very long) in awe of its winding length of 16 km, as used by French travelers during the occupation of Greece by the Ottomans. Hymettus was assigned the status of a protected area in the EU's Natura 2000 ecological network. Geography The highest point of the mountain range is Evzonas (Εύζωνας) with an elevation of . Gerakas
Gerakas () is a town, a suburb of Athens and a former municipality in East Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pallini, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. In antiquity Gerakas constituted the Athenian ''mesogeia'' deme of Gargettus, in the tribe of Aigeis, according to the administrative model of Cleisthenes. Today, it is a rapidly developing city of the northern mesogea and the eastern gate to the Athens basin. It is known as the birthplace of the famous philosopher Epicurus. The city is set at a significant place at the junction of Ymittos and Penteli foothills. A62 Motorway (Greece)
The A62 motorway, also known as the Hymettus Ring Road (), and formerly signed as the A64 motorway until 2024, is a branch of the A6 motorway (Greece), A6 motorway in the Attiki Odos motorway network. It is named after the Hymettus mountain range, which it partly encircles. The motorway serves parts of eastern Athens, and planning is underway to extend it to the southern suburbs with a tunnel following Mount Hymettus to Elliniko, and it would ebd at Vouliagmenis Avenue. Another extension from the north-east end will extend further eastwards to the port of Rafina. Pallini () is a suburban town in Greater Athens Area and a municipality in East Attica, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Gerakas. It is the seat of administration of the East Attica regional unit. Geography Pallini is situated in the eastern part of the Athens conurbation, at about 150 m elevation.
