Glengarriff () is a village of approximately 200 people on the N71 national secondary road in the Beara Peninsula of County Cork, Ireland. Known internationally as a tourism venue, it has a number of natural attractions. It sits at the northern head of Glengarriff Bay, a smaller enclave of Bantry Bay. At northwards along the N71 road from Bantry, and eastwards along the R572 road Castletownbere, it is a common stopping-point along the routes around the area. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Beara GAA is a division of Cork GAA, and is responsible for organizing Gaelic Athletic Association games in the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. Currently, the following clubs are part of the Beara division - Castletownbere, Adrigole, Urhan, Garnish, Bere Island and Glengarriff. It has no senior football team so the only representative in the Cork Senior Football Championship is the divisional team. Adrigole GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Adrigole in County Cork, Ireland. The club, situated in the Beara Peninsula, is exclusively concerned with the game of Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Adrigole in the Beara Peninsula, Adrigole GAA Club was founded in 1927 following the establishment of the Beara Board. The club has spent most of its existence operating in the Beara JAFC, winning 22 titles from 33 final appearances. The Cork Junior A Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Cork Junior A Football Championship and abbreviated to the Cork JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork GAA, Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking junior clubs in the County Cork, county of Cork in Ireland. It is the sixth tier overall in the entire Cork football championship system. ''The Southern Star'' is a weekly regional newspaper based in Skibbereen, County Cork in Ireland and was established in 1889 as the ''Cork County Southern Star'', by brothers Florence and John O'Sullivan. One of its rival newspapers in the 19th century was ''The Skibbereen Eagle'', founded in 1857. It had become "famous by declaring it was 'keeping an eye on the Czar of Russia' over his expansionist designs on China". The Beara Junior A Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Beara Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1927 for junior Gaelic football teams in the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland. The championship is currently suspended because there are no teams categorised as junior A in the division. The title has been won at least once by eight different clubs. The all-time record-holders are Urhan, who have won a total of 28 titles. The Beara Junior Championship is an integral part of the wider Cork Junior A Football Championship.
