The five Regions of Denmark () were created as administrative entities at a level above the municipalities and below the central government in the public sector as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, when the 13 Counties of Denmark, counties (''Amt (country subdivision), amter'') were abolished. At the same time, the number of municipalities (''Commune (country subdivision), kommuner'') was cut from 270 (Ærø Municipality, from 271 in 2006) to Municipalities of Denmark, 98. Holbæk Municipality
Holbæk Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in northwestern Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand in Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Orø, and covers an area of 583 km², and has a total population of 74,490 (2025). Its mayor is Christina Krzyrosiak Hansen, a member of the Social Democrats and the youngest mayor ever in Denmark. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Holbæk. Odsherred Line
The Holbæk Line ( Danish: Holbækbanen) is a long standard gauge single track local passenger railway line linking Holbæk with the town of Nykøbing Sjælland in the northwestern part of the island of Zealand some fifty km west of Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its name after the Odsherred peninsula. Train services on the Odsherred Line are operated by the railway company Lokaltog. History The railway line was built as a result of the Danish Railway Act of 1894. It was created to strengthen the economic development in Odsherred following the reclamation of Lammefjorden. The original intention was to build a station or halt in each of the civil parishes that contributed to its financing. Holbæk County Council was granted a Concession on the railway on 6 May 1896.
