Gilles Carrez
Gilles Carrez (born 29 August 1948) is a French politician of the Republicans who served as a member of the National Assembly of France, representing the Val-de-Marne's 5th constituency, from 1993 to 2022. He did not stand for re-election in the 2022 French legislative election. Political positions Carrez is the author of the 1996 Carrez law which obliges the vendor of a property lot (or fraction of a lot) in a condominium to specifically mention the surface area in all documents relating to the property sold. In response to a 2019 law authorizing the sale of the government's controlling stake in Groupe ADP, Carrez supported a cross-party initiative which called for a referendum to overturn the legislation, citing concerns over the loss of government revenue and influence. 1993 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in France on 21 and 28 March 1993, to elect the tenth National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. Since 1988, President François Mitterrand and his Socialist cabinets had relied on a relative parliamentary majority. In an attempt to avoid having to work with the Communists, Prime Minister Michel Rocard tried to gain support from the UDF by appointing four UDF ministers. After the UDF withdrew its support for the government in 1991, Rocard and the UDF ministers resigned. The UDF then became allied with the Gaullist Rally for the Republic (RPR). Solidarity Tax On Wealth
The solidarity tax on wealth (, ISF) was an annual direct wealth tax on those in France having assets in excess of €1,300,000 (since 2011). It was one of the Socialist Party's 1981 electoral platform's measures, 110 Propositions for France. First named IGF (''Impôt sur les Grandes Fortunes''), it was abolished in 1986 by Jacques Chirac's right-wing government, but reestablished in 1988 as ISF in slightly different terms after François Mitterrand's reelection. In September 2017, the French Government abolished ISF and replaced it with the (IFI), from 2018.
