Gigi Peronace
Luigi "Gigi" Peronace (; 29 November 1925 – 29 December 1980) was a Calabrian football agent doing business predominantly between English and Italian clubs. He has been described as the "first real agent in England". Luigi Peronace was born in Soverato, Calabria, Italy was born on 29 November 1925. His initial involvement in football came as a playing goalkeeper. Peronace spoke English, and when the British troops came to Calabria during the Second World War he organised football games with them. After the war he went to Turin to study engineering, but there he also became interpreter to Juventus's Scottish manager, William Chalmers, and then to his managerial successor, Jesse Carver. When Carver was sacked, Peronace was no longer needed and let go. He later reunited with Carver when he took the post of business manager at Torino. Soverato
Soverato (Central-Southern Calabrian, Calabrian: ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region of Southern Italy. Soverato is the wealthiest town per capita in Calabria, and it has recently been experiencing a spike in tourism since 2015. Recent projects have been underway to accommodate these new tourists including the addition of the Villa Comunale, the renovation of Lungomare Europa and the ongoing reconfiguration of the main shopping road in town, Corso Umberto I, which is scheduled to be complete in late 2019. Denis Law (born 24 February 1940) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a forward. His career as a football player began at Second Division Huddersfield Town in 1956. After four years at Huddersfield, he was signed by Manchester City for an estimated transfer fee of £55,000, which set a new British record. Law spent one year there before Torino bought him for £110,000, this time setting a new record fee for a transfer involving a British player. Although he played well in Italy, he found it difficult to settle there and signed for Manchester United in 1962, setting another British record transfer fee of £115,000 (). Joe Baker
Joseph Henry Baker (17 July 1940 – 6 October 2003) was an England international footballer. Born in Woolton in Liverpool, England, he spent virtually his entire childhood growing up in Motherwell, Scotland. He is notable for being the first professional player to have played for England without having previously played in the English football league system, and for scoring over 100 goals in both the English and Scottish leagues. James Peter Greaves (20 February 1940 – 19 September 2021) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward. Greaves is regarded as one of England’s best ever players. He is England's fifth-highest international goalscorer (44 goals), Tottenham Hotspur's highest ever goalscorer (266 goals), the highest goalscorer in the history of English top-flight football (357 goals), and also scored more hat-tricks (six) for England than anyone else. John Charles
William John Charles (27 December 1931 – 21 February 2004) was a Welsh footballer who played as a centre-forward or as a centre-back. Best known for his first stint at Leeds United and Juventus, he was rated by many as the greatest all-round footballer ever to come from Britain.
