Iraqi Third Division League
The Iraqi Third Division League is a football league that is the fifth tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league was established in 2024. League format Each team can register up to 25 players in their squad list, and each club is required to have a formal establishment licence issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The format of the league for the inaugural 2024–25 season is as follows: First stage Teams are split into 18 regional tournaments in accordance with the 18 governorates of Iraq. Each tournament is organised by the Iraq Football Association's sub-branch in that governorate (except for the tournament in Baghdad which is organised by the IFA Competitions Committee). A total of 42 teams qualify for the second stage. Al-Qādisiyyah Governorate
Al-Qadisiyah Governorate (, ), also known as the Al-Diwaniyah Governorate (, ), is one of the governorates of Iraq. It is in the southern part of the center of the country. The estimated population of the province is about a million and a half million people, according to the census of 2014. Its capital is Al Diwaniyah. Before 1976, it was part of the ad-Diwāniyah Governorate, along with al-Muthannā and Najaf. The province is named after the historical city of Al-Qadisiyah, the site of the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah, where in 636 CE the Islamic Rashidun forces defeated the forces of the Sassanid Empire. 2000–01 Iraqi Elite League
The 2000–01 Iraqi Elite League was the 27th season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. The name of the league was changed from ''Iraqi First Division League'' to ''Iraqi Elite League''. Instead of relegating teams from the 1999–2000 season and promoting teams from the lower division in order to decide which teams were playing in the competition, the Iraq Football Association decided that every eligible team in the country should play qualifying games in order to decide who participated. The qualifying rounds saw a total of 135 teams being split into regional groups, all competing for the 16 places in the league. After all the qualifiers were over in December, the league competition itself was held with each team playing 30 matches. The 2001–02 Iraq FA Cup was the 24th edition of the Iraq FA Cup as a club competition. The tournament was won by Al-Talaba for the first time in their history, after losing in the final six previous times. They beat Al-Shorta SC, Al-Shorta 1–0 in the final, preventing Al-Shorta from completing the Double (association football)#Cup Double, cup double.
