Gergely Karácsony
Gergely Szilveszter Karácsony (; born 11 June 1975) is a Hungarian politician, sociologist, political scientist, activist and current Mayor of Budapest. He previously served as member of the National Assembly (MP) from 2010 to 2014 and Mayor of Zugló from 2014 to 2019. Matthew Robert Gergely (October 5, 1979 – January 19, 2025) was an American politician. A Democrat, he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 35th district from 2023 until his death in 2025. Early life and education Gergely was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and graduated from McKeesport High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2002. Career From 2012 to 2017, Gergely was chief of staff to the mayor of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Marc J. Gergely (born October 17, 1969) is a former Democratic Party member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 35th District and was elected in 2002. He was the Deputy Whip and was the only Democrat from Allegheny County to serve on the Labor Committee. Gergely attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He began his working career by working for state Senator Albert "Buddy" Belan. He became the head of the McKeesport, Pennsylvania school district at age 26. Gergely later worked as a director of the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Prior to his election to the House, he was employed as a legislative assistant to state Senator Sean Logan. Gergely Salim (born April 1, 1972 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania) is a Hungarian- Danish taekwondo practitioner, but lives now in Los Angeles as an American citizen. Career He started practicing taekwondo at the age of 8 with his oldest brother, Joseph Salim, at Gladsaxe Taekwondo Klub near Copenhagen. In 1991, Gergely Salim won a gold medal in the finweight division at the World Taekwondo Championships in Athens. Next year, at the age of 20, he participated in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and won first place. Gergely Pongrátz ( Gherla, 18 February 1932 – Kiskunmajsa, 18 May 2005) was a Hungarian revolutionary and prominent veteran of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He was the commander of arguably the largest and perhaps the best-known group of fighters , at the revolution's strongest and most lengthy point of resistance, Budapest's Corvin Passage (''Corvin Köz''); between 1 and 9 November 1956. Gergely Luthár (Prekmurje Slovene: ''Gergel Lutar,'' February 18, 1841 Sebeborci – March 12, 1925 Sebeborci) was a Slovene landowner, notary, and writer in Hungary.
