Georgios Diamantidis
Georgios Diamantidis (; born 3 January 1984) is a Greek former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. Diamantidis qualified for the Swimming at the 2004 Summer Olympics – Men's 1500 metre freestyle, men's 1500 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA A-standard entry time of 15:09.25 from the Greece National Open in Thessaloniki. He challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including top medal favorite Larsen Jensen of the United States. He rounded out the field to last place by a 27-second margin behind Italy's Christian Minotti in 16:06.31. Diamantidis failed to advance into the final, as he placed thirty-first overall in the preliminaries. Christian Minotti (born 12 May 1980 in Rome) is a long-distance freestyle swimmer from Italy, who won the silver medal in the men's individual 1500 metres freestyle event at the 2002 European Championships in Berlin, Germany. Larsen Alan Jensen (born September 1, 1985) is an American former competition swimmer and a two-time Olympic medalist. Early life Larsen Jensen was born September 1, 1985, in Bakersfield, California and learned to swim in a backyard pool from his mother Barbara, a former distance freestyler who nearly made the Olympics. He attended Bakersfield's Garces Memorial High School, and trained and competed for Bakersfield Swim Club under Coach Jim Richey. He swam as part of his High School team only in his Freshman and Senior years, as rules restricted club swimmers from swimming with their High School teams. He began swimming with the Mission Viejo Nadadores under Head Coach Bill Rose (swim coach), Bill Rose in the summer prior to his High School Senior year.
