Georgia Bell
Georgia Bell (born 17 October 1993) is an English track and field athlete who competes as a middle distance runner, and in the duathlon. In 2024, she won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 1500 metres, running a new national record time. That year, she also won the silver medal at the 2024 European Athletics Championships and became British national champion, indoors and outdoors, in the 1500 metres. Early life Bell was a high-achieving junior competitor, winning the English Schools title at under-15 level over 800 metres, and clocking a time of 2:08.81, which placed her eighth on the UK all-time list. Sembo Almayew Welteji (born 24 January 2005) is an Ethiopian track and field athlete. She was a silver medalist at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in the Women's 3000 metres steeplechase. Career 2022 Almayew set new world under-18 best times for the 3000m steeplechase in 2022. She beat the previous U18 best of 9:24.73, set by Kenya's Celliphine Chespol in 2016, when she clocked a 9:18.98 at the FBK Games, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, in Hengelo. The 3000 metres or 3000-metre run is a track running event, also commonly known as the "3K" or "3K run", where 7.5 laps are run around an outdoor 400 m track, or 15 laps around a 200 m indoor track. It is debated whether the 3000m should be classified as a middle-distance or long-distance event. In elite-level competition, 3000 m pace is more comparable to the pace found in the longer 5000 metres event, rather than mile pace. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. Trevor Painter (coach)
Trevor Painter is an English athletics coach and the founder of M11 Track Club. He won the Coaching Achievement Award at the World Athletics Awards 2024. Alongside his wife Jenny Meadows, he won Coach of the Year at the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Career A former rugby league player and 400 metres runner, he spent two years in the academy at Wigan Warriors and he trained in Wigan where he first met athlete Jenny Meadows, who asked him to coach her. He started coaching around the year 2000 and became the founder and director of the M11 Track Club. Continuing to be based in Wigan, he coached athletes including Kirsten McAslan, Graeme Ballard, and was the athletics coach of Jenny Meadows when she won World Athletics Championships 800m and 4x400m relay bronze medals in 2009, and World Athletics Indoor Championships 800m silver in 2010.
