George Fisher (musician)
George Fisher (born July 8, 1970), better known by his stage name Corpsegrinder, is an American death metal vocalist who is the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, Paths of Possession and the supergroup Serpentine Dominion. ''Loudwire'' placed Fisher at number 7 on their list of the "Top 25 Extreme Metal Vocalists". Fisher is renowned for the size of his neck, which he has explained is due to a combination of headbanging and weightlifting when he was younger. Early life Fisher was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 8, 1970. He developed an interest in horror fiction and comic books at an early age. Death was an American death metal band formed in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1983 by guitarist Chuck Schuldiner (who later became the band's sole vocalist), drummer/vocalist Kam Lee and guitarist Rick Rozz. Formed out of what would become the Florida death metal scene, Death is considered to be a pioneering band in death metal. The band's 1987 debut album, '' Scream Bloody Gore'', has been widely regarded as one of the first death metal records, alongside the first records from Possessed and Necrophagia. Death had a revolving lineup, with Schuldiner, aside from a European tour, being the sole consistent member. ''Effigy of the Forgotten'' is the debut full-length album by New York–based death metal band Suffocation, released in 1991. The album features several tracks that are re-recorded versions of tracks that appeared on the band's ''Reincremation'' demo and ''Human Waste'' EP. The cover artwork was created by Dan Seagrave. The album was dedicated to the memory of fellow metal band Atheist's bassist Roger Patterson, who had been killed in a car crash earlier in 1991. The album has received critical acclaim since its release, and is now regarded as one of the most influential death metal albums of all time, serving as a blueprint for death metal in the 90s. Sacrifice is a Canadian thrash metal band from Toronto, Ontario. The band was formed by guitarists Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico in 1983. The band released four studio albums before parting ways in 1993. The Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk band from New York City. The band, which has garnered a strong cult following, has released six studio albums, with the first two considered the most influential. With a Hare Krishna background, they were among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal. David Justin Vincent (born April 22, 1965), also known as Evil D, is an American musician who is best known as the former lead vocalist and bassist for the Florida death metal band Morbid Angel, as well as the bassist for Terrorizer and Genitorturers. Biography Vincent's early influences include Kiss, Alice Cooper, Black Flag, Slayer, Venom, Voivod and Black Sabbath. He typically plays bass with a pick, though he occasionally uses his fingers. He left Morbid Angel in 1996 to join his then-wife's industrial metal band Genitorturers.
