George Christopher (mayor)
George Christopher (born George Christopheles; December 8, 1907 – September 14, 2000) was a Greek-American politician who served as the 34th mayor of San Francisco from 1956 to 1964. As of 2025, he is the most recent Republican to be elected mayor of San Francisco. Early years Born George Christopheles in Arcadia, Greece, the son of James and Mary (née Koines) Christopheles. He and his family emigrated to the United States in 1910 and settled in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, then known as "Greektown", when Christopher was two years old. Christopher left school at the age of fourteen when his father James became seriously ill, and he became sole support of his family. He sold newspapers and became a copy boy at the ''San Francisco Examiner''. While working, he also attended night classes at Golden Gate College and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. After becoming a citizen of the United States in 1930, Christopheles changed his last name to Christopher. ...

George Christopher (born George Wilson, 5 March 1970) is a British actor & Author. He is best known for his teenage role as Liverpudlian scamp Ziggy Greaves in Grange Hill, a role he played from 1986 to 1989. The character was a hit with viewers, and Wilson himself has compared his alter-ego with the series' original hero, Tucker Jenkins."From Grange Hill To Albert Square...And Beyond"; a celebration of 20 years of Grange Hill, broadcast New Year's Day 1998 on BBC1. Herr Christoff
George Christopher (1826 – 13 June 1881), better known by the stage name Herr Christoff, was a British tightrope walker and acrobat. Early life George Frederick Christopher was born of African descent in Swansea in 1826. He was the son of Kitt Christopher. George and his younger brother John first performed as children with their father, who appeared professionally as Signor Christoff. In London, his father performed street acts that included balancing cartwheels. Career In July 1854, Herr Christoff first appeared at Astley's Amphitheatre under British circus proprietor William Cooke. He was billed as "the first rope dancer in the world" and "l'Empereur des Funambules". Christoff was recognized as the only performer of colour on the tightrope and was acclaimed for his exceptional skill. ''Bored to Death'' is an American comedy series that ran on HBO from September 20, 2009, to November 28, 2011.
