Generations (Journey Album)
''Generations'' is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band Journey. It was the band's last album with lead singer Steve Augeri. The album was given away for free by the band during most of the concerts of the ''Generations Tour'' in 2005, and subsequently released on Sanctuary Records later the same year. This was the first Journey album where all of the band members share lead vocal duties, which Augeri later admitted in 2022 was due to his voice suffering from fatigue at the time. Jonathan Cain sings lead on "Every Generation" and "Pride of the Family" (the latter of which is only found on the Japanese edition), the first time he sang lead since "All That Really Matters" (originally a '' Frontiers'' outtake) from the '' Time3'' box set. Journey (band)
Journey is an American Rock music, rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973 by former members of Santana (band), Santana, the Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. The band consists of Neal Schon on guitars and vocals (the last remaining original member); Jonathan Cain on keyboards, guitars and vocals; Deen Castronovo on drums and vocals; Arnel Pineda on lead vocals; Jason Derlatka on keyboards and vocals; and Todd Jensen on bass. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist; they released a series of hit songs, including "Don't Stop Believin' (1981), which in 2009 became the top-selling track in iTunes Store, iTunes history among songs not released in the 21st century. Jeff Scott Soto
Jeff Scott Soto (born November 4, 1965) is an American Rock music, rock singer of Puerto Rican descent. He is perhaps best known for being the vocalist on Yngwie Malmsteen's first two albums, and the lead vocalist for Journey (band), Journey in 2006–07. He sang lead vocals in the band Eyes as well as Sons of Apollo. He also had a long tenure as the front man of hard rock band Talisman (band), Talisman. Currently he works as a solo artist, with his self-named band SOTO and as the vocalist of supergroups W.E.T. and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In 2020, Jeff joined forces with the band Art of Anarchy and their debut together drops in 2024. Ross Valory
Ross Lamont Valory (born February 2, 1949) is an American musician who is best known as the original bass player for the rock band Journey from 1973 to 1985 and again from 1995 to 2020. Valory was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. Career Ross Valory was born on February 2, 1949, in San Francisco, California. He grew up in Lafayette, California, and attended Acalanes High School. In high school, he played clarinet, bass clarinet and guitar. His mother introduced him to jazz, particularly Dave Brubeck. He played with Frumious Bandersnatch followed by Steve Miller Band appearing on '' Rock Love''. Here To Stay (Schon & Hammer Album)
''Here to Stay'' is the second album by the duo of composer Jan Hammer and guitarist Neal Schon. This album also featured contributions from Schon's bandmates in Journey including songwriting and background vocals from Steve Perry, notable as the only time Schon and Perry collaborated outside of Journey. The song "Self Defense" can be considered an unofficial Journey song as all members of Journey appear (though Jonathan Cain only contributed as a songwriter, instead of contributing keys). The lead single "No More Lies" featured Schon on vocals and had a music video that was played on MTV. The album cover is a play on the well known Arm & Hammer brand baking soda. Schon & Hammer was an American rock duo composed of composer/drummer/keyboardist Jan Hammer and guitarist Neal Schon. They released two studio albums, '' Untold Passion'' in 1981 and '' Here to Stay'' in 1982 and a collection entitled ''No More Lies'' in 1998. Neal Schon
Neal Joseph Schon (born February 27, 1954) is an American musician and songwriter, best known as the co-founder and lead guitarist for the rock band Journey. He is the last original member to remain throughout the group's history. He was a member of the rock band Santana before forming Journey. He was also a member of the group Bad English during Journey's hiatus from 1987 to 1995, as well as an original member of Hardline. Schon was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2013, and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. Deen Joseph Castronovo (born August 17, 1964) is an American drummer and singer best known for being a member of classic rock band Journey and hard rock acts Bad English and Hardline. Jonathan Cain
Jonathan Leonard Friga (born February 26, 1950), known professionally as Jonathan Cain, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known as the keyboardist and rhythm guitarist for Journey. He has also worked with the Babys and Bad English. Cain was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Journey in 2017. He also maintains a solo career as a contemporary Christian artist. Early life and education Cain was born in Chicago to Leonard and Nancy Friga. At the age of eight, Cain began accordion lessons, and by the time he was in his teens, he was playing accordion and piano at parties and in clubs. He also plays guitar, bass, and harmonica.
