Geelong West Giants
The Geelong West Giants are an Australian rules football and netball club based in the suburb of North Geelong, Victoria. The club fields teams in both the Geelong Football League and Geelong & District Football League. History The Geelong area's first new club since 1990 was born out of the merger of the town's two oldest teams, Geelong West St Peters Football Club (the Roosters, also known as "Red West") and Geelong West Sporting Club (the Cheetahs, also known as "Blue West"). With both Geelong West clubs having sustained periods of minimal success in recent years, it was decided by both sets of members to pursue a merged entity. Brandon Ryan (born 7 November 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL), having previously played for the Hawthorn Football Club. The Geelong West St Peters Football Club was an Australian rules football club that last competed in the Geelong Football League (GFL) from 1989 until the end of the 2016 season. Prior to its merger with St Peters Football Club in 1989, the club played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1963 until 1988.
