Geelong United (NBL1 South)
Geelong United is a NBL1 South club based in Geelong, Victoria. Previously known as the Geelong Supercats, the club fields teams in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is affiliated with Geelong United Basketball and plays its home games at the Geelong Arena. Club history Early years The Geelong Basketball Club was established in 1977 with a men's team. The team entered the Victorian Championship and finished sixth in 1978 and fifth in 1979. In 1980, the team signed Cal Bruton, Steven Kelocinski and Ray Shirley. That year, the side won three major tournaments and finished runners-up in the VBA championships. NBL1 South is a semi-professional basketball league in Victoria (state), Victoria and Tasmania, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2019, Basketball Victoria partnered with the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL) to create NBL1. NBL1 South was the lone conference in 2019, with NBL1 North, North, NBL1 Central, Central, NBL1 West, West and NBL1 East, East joining over the proceeding three years. NBL Coach Of The Year Award
The National Basketball League Coach of the Year is an annual National Basketball League (NBL) award given since the 1980 NBL season to the best head coach of the regular season. As of the 2023–24 season, the head coach, assistant coach and captain of each team vote for the Coach of the Year. Voters are not allowed to vote for the coach of their own team. The winner receives the Lindsay Gaze Trophy, which is named in honour of legendary NBL coach and Basketball Hall of Famer Lindsay Gaze. The Corio Bay Stingrays were a basketball team based in Geelong, Victoria. The Stingrays competed in the men's Big V and played their home games at Geelong Basketball Netball Centre. The team was affiliated with Corio Bay Basketball Association (CBBA), which later merged to create Geelong United Basketball. Kilsyth Cobras is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Kilsyth and Mountain District Basketball Association Inc. (K&MDBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the City of Maroondah. 2019 NBL1 Season
The 2019 NBL1 season was the inaugural season of the NBL1. The season began on 29 March and concluded on 17 August with grand final day for both the men's and women's seasons. The NBL1 in 2019 was a single league and consisted of one conference run by Basketball Victoria. The teams, mostly from Victoria (state), Victoria and Tasmania, would go on to make up the NBL1 South in 2020 NBL1 season, 2020 after the inclusion of multiple new conferences. The Big V is a semi-professional basketball league in Victoria, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. History The Big V Conference was established in 2000 and joined the Australian Basketball Association (ABA). The ABA ceased operations following the 2008 season, resulting in the Big V becoming independent. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 season was abandoned mid-season due to the pandemic. As of 2025, the league's premier divisions are Championship Men and Championship Women. J'Nathan Bullock
J'Nathan Bullock (born June 25, 1987) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball at Cleveland State University. He was signed by the New York Jets of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2009, but did not make the final roster.
