Gaumee Film Awards
The Gaumee Film Awards aka Dhivehi Film Awards are presented by National Centre for the Arts to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The Gaumee Film Award ceremony is the oldest film events in Maldives. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organisations in the past as well as in present provisions. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History A meeting was arranged at MCM on 30 October 1993, once the government decides to hold a Film Festival to honor the film industry. The awards were first introduced in 1994. Out of the twenty two people invited from the fraternity, only ten people showed up for the meeting. Yoosuf
''Yoosuf'' is a 2008 Maldivian romantic drama film written and directed by Fathimath Nahula. Produced under Crystal Entertainment, the film stars Yoosuf Shafeeu, Niuma Mohamed, Sheela Najeeb, Mohamed Manik, Ahmed Nimal and Ahmed Lais Asim in pivotal roles. The film received widespread critical acclaim and was one of the Maldivian all-time highest grossing films. Niuma
''Niuma'' is a 2010 Maldivian drama film directed by Niuma Mohamed. Produced by Mohamed Abdulla under Dhekedheke Ves Production, the film stars Niuma Mohamed, Yoosuf Shafeeu, Ahmed Nimal, Mohamed Manik, and Sheela Najeeb in pivotal roles. The film was released on 25 October 2010. The entire production was shot in B. Goidhoo. Plot Nizam (Mohamed Manik), a photographer, has a perversion which makes him sexually attracted to his sister. Abdulla Muaz
Abdulla Muaz is a Maldivian film actor, editor and directors and officers and Career Muaz made a brief appearance in Yoosuf Shafeeu directed horror film ''Edhathuru'' (2004) which revolves around eight friends who go on a picnic to a haunted uninhabited island and their battle for survival. The film garnered critical appreciation specially for its sound effect and was a commercial success. Moomin Fuad and Ali Shifau's critically appreciated crime film ''Heylaa'' (2006) featured Muaz as a drug user. The film narrates the story of a fourteen years old ambitious boy who finds himself unknowingly being involved in smuggling of a revolver. Vasvaas
''Vasvaas'' is a four-part Maldivian horror children's short film series produced by Yoosuf Shafeeu, Hussain Nooradeen and Hassan Adam under Eupe Productions. The first installment of the series, written and directed by Yoosuf Shafeeu was released in 2006 and continued as the writer and director for other installments too. The second installment, begins fifty years later from the events of the first part and the story was continued for further two installments. Filming for the second to fourth installment was completed in Kelaa. Yoosuf Shafeeu
Yoosuf Shafeeu also known as Eupe (20 October 1975) is a Maldivian film actor, editor, writer, and director. One of the most successful filmmakers and actors in Maldivian Cinema, Shafeeu is the recipient of a number of awards, including eight Gaumee Film Awards, and a Maldives Film Award; ; holding the record of collecting maximum Gaumee Film Award for Best Actor. In 2003, the Government of Maldives honoured him with the National Award of Recognition.
