Gateway WA
Gateway WA, formally called the Gateway WA Perth Airport and Freight Access Project, was a $1 billion project that upgraded the road network around Perth Airport. The project was located on portions of the southern parts of Perth Airport land, and adjacent land allocated for transport. It lay mainly within the local government area of the City of Belmont, with the eastern area located in the City of Kalamunda. It was the largest project Main Roads Western Australia had ever undertaken, covering the upgrade of Tonkin, Leach, and Roe Highways, and the construction of four new interchanges. The project was jointly funded by state and federal governments, which provided $317.5 million and $686.4 million respectively. Tonkin, also spelled Tongkin, Tonquin or Tongking, is an exonym referring to the northern region of Vietnam. During the 17th and 18th centuries, this term referred to the domain ''Đàng Ngoài'' under Trịnh lords' control, including both the Northern and Thanh- Nghệ regions, north of the Gianh River. From 1884 to early 1945, this term was used for the French protectorate of Tonkin, composed of only the Northern region. Names "Tonkin" is a Western rendition of 東京 ''Đông Kinh'', meaning 'Eastern Capital'. This was the name of the capital of the Lê dynasty (present-day Hanoi). Troy Raymond Buswell (born 19 March 1966) was an Australian politician who was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2005 to 2014, representing the seat of Vasse. NorthLink WA
NorthLink WA was a road construction project in Perth, Western Australia, that saw both the northern section of Tonkin Highway upgraded, and the road extended northwards as the Swan Valley Bypass, to bypass Great Northern Highway. These two component projects were separately funded, with both the state and federal governments contributing to each project. Construction commenced in June 2016 and was completed on 23 April 2020. Tonkin Highway upgrade The federal government has allocated $140.6 million to grade-separate Tonkin Highway's intersections with Benara Road, Morley Drive and Collier Road. EastLink WA is a planned road construction project between Perth and Northam, Western Australia currently in the planning and development stages, with construction due to start in 2025. The project involves building a controlled-access highway from Perth to Northam, by constructing the "Orange Route", upgrading Toodyay Road, and constructing a system interchange with Roe Highway. Route EastLink WA is planned to bypass Great Eastern Highway in the Perth Hills, with the west end beginning at Roe Highway intersection with Toodyay Road in Middle Swan, and then heading east along Toodyay Road towards Gidgegannup, with a new alignment called the Orange Route linking with the Great Eastern Highway near Wundowie, from where it continues east to Northam. High Wycombe () is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, within the City of Kalamunda.
