Gasha (singer)
Gah-Ndo Ashuembom Amabo (born 18 March 1991) professionally known as Gasha, is an Afro-pop, Afrobeats Soul singer from Cameroon. She made herself known in October 2013 with her debut single ''Kaki Mbere''. Biography Gasha was born in Bamenda, Cameroon in 1991 where she grew up with her parents, native of Bafut in the North West Region. She started singing at the age of 11 in high school influenced by artists such as Tracy Chapman, Sam Cooke, Jason Mraz, Richard Bona, Coldplay, Eboa Lotin, Lauryn Hill and Donny Elwood. In 2013, she released her first single "Kaki Mbere", an Afrobeat song produced by Cameroonian music producer DiJay Pazzo. Bamenda
Bamenda, also known as Abakwa and Mankon Town, is a city in northwestern Cameroon and capital of the Northwest Region (Cameroon), Northwest Region. The city has a population of about six hundred thousand people and is located north-west of the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé. Bamenda is known for its cool climate and scenic hilly location. Emmanuel Eboa Lotin (August 6, 1942 – October 6, 1997) was a Cameroonian musical artist who created music based on the style of Makossa, native to his home country. Early life Lotin was born in the city of Douala, in Cameroon. His father was , a Baptist pastor, who died when Eboa was 3. Richard Bona (born 28 October 1967) is a Cameroon-born American multi-instrumentalist and singer. Early life Bona Penda Nya Yuma Elolo was born in Minta, Cameroon, into a family of musicians, which enabled him to start learning music from a young age. His grandfather was a griot – a West African singer of praise and storyteller – and percussionist, as his mother was a singer. When he was four years old, Bona started to play the balafon. At the age of five, he began performing at his village church. Not being wealthy, Bona made many of his own instruments: including flutes and guitars (with cords strung over an old motorcycle tank). The Northwest Region, or North-West Region () is a region with special status in Cameroon. Its capital is Bamenda. Afrobeats
Afrobeats, not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Ghana, Nigeria, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife, azonto music, and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the "Afrobeats" umbrella.
