Gary Nkombo
Gary Chilala Nkombo (born 1 March 1965) is a Zambian politician and businessman. He is Zambia's former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development from 2021 to 2025. Career Nkombo was first elected as an MP in the 2006 Zambian general election representing Mazabuka Central in the National Assembly as a member of the United Party for National Development (UPND). He was again elected MP in the 2011, 2016 and 2021 Zambian general elections. In August 2016 he was appointed Party Whip for the UPND. In September 2021, Nkombo was appointed ''Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.'' On Friday, 28 March 2025, Gary Nkombo was terminated from his appointment as Minister of Local Government and Rural Development by president Hakainde Hichilema for unspecified reasons. Mazabuka
Mazabuka is a town in the Southern Province of Zambia. It is the capital of Mazabuka District, one of the thirteen administrative units in the Southern Province. Etymology The name Mazabuka originates from a Tonga local language word "kuzabuka" which means "To cross over the river". The name should have been "mwazabuka" which translates to "you have crossed". However, due assimilation, the name became "Mazabuka" which nonetheless translates to "you have crossed". It is believed that the name was coined after the Tonga people crossed the ''Kafue River'' near a place called Nanga during their migrations. Location The town is located in Mazabuka District, in Zambia's Southern Province. The town lies on the south east edge of the Kafue Flats wetland, along the Lusaka–Livingstone Road. General elections were held in Zambia on 11 August 2016 to elect the President of Zambia, President and National Assembly (Zambia), National Assembly. Hakainde Hichilema
Hakainde Hichilema (born 4 June 1962), often known by his initials HH, is a Zambian businessman, farmer, and politician who is the seventh and current president of Zambia since 24 August 2021. After having contested five previous elections in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016, he won the 2021 presidential election with 59.02% of the vote. He has led the United Party for National Development since 2006 following the death of the party founder Anderson Mazoka. Prior to his election, Hichilema was a major opponent of Edgar Lungu, the president of Zambia from 2015 to 2021.
