Galleria Sabauda
The Savoy Gallery () is an art collection in the Italian city of Turin, which contains the royal art collections amassed by the House of Savoy over the centuries. It is located on Via XX Settembre, 86. The museum, whose first directors were Roberto d'Azeglio, Roberto and Massimo d'Azeglio, unites the art collection of Eugene of Savoy, acquired after his death by his cousin, the king of Sardinia, with the works from the Royal Palace of Turin, the picture gallery of the House of Savoy-Carignano, Savoy-Carignano, and the artworks from the Palazzo Reale (Genoa), Palazzo Durazzo in Genoa, acquired in 1824. On 2 October 1832 (his birthday), King Charles Albert of Sardinia, Charles Albert of Savoy inaugurated the royal gallery at the Palazzo Madama, Turin, Palazzo Madama, containing 365 paintings. The ''Annunciation Triptych'' is an oil-on-panel triptych by the Netherlandish artist Rogier van der Weyden, dating from around 1434. It was originally formed by three panels, the central one being now at The Louvre museum in Paris, France; the side panels are at the Galleria Sabauda of Turin, Italy. Description It is an early work by the Netherlandish artist, with a visible re-elaborations of elements from Robert Campin and Jan van Eyck. The central panel depicts a composition within a domestic interior, with a richly dressed Angel surprising the Virgin who reads a book (a symbol of the Holy Books). ''Three Archangels with Young Tobias'' is a painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Filippino Lippi, dated ''c.'' 1485. It is housed in the Galleria Sabauda of Turin. On the background of a rocky landscape, resembling that of the London ''Adoration of the Magi'', the picture represents the three archangels: Michael on the left, Raphael in the centre, and Gabriel holding a lily, together with a young Tobias, son of Tobit. The scene is clearly inspired by a ''Voyage of Tobias'' by Francesco Botticini, once in the Florentine church of Florence and now in the Uffizi, while the angels resemble those painted by Filippino himself in the '' Liberation of St. Peter'' in the Brancacci Chapel. Filippino Lippi (probably 1457 – 18 April 1504) was an Italian Renaissance painter mostly working in Florence, Italy during the later years of the Early Renaissance and first few years of the High Renaissance. He also worked in Rome for a period from 1488, and later in the Milan area and Bologna. Macrino d'Alba (c. 1460–1465 – c. 1510–1520) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period, active mainly in Piedmont, who is known for his altarpieces and portraits. His birth name was ''Gian Giacomo de' Alladio''. The ''Gualino Madonna'' is a painting attributed to the precursor of the italian primitives artist Cimabue, after having been attributed for some time to one of his fellow contemporaries Duccio di Buoninsegna. In 1910 it was sold on the Florence antiquary market covered by a 16th-century repainting, which was removed in 1920.
