Funny-Films Oy was a Finnish film production company established by Spede Pasanen. Information The company produced three Uuno Turhapuro films and a few other Spede films in 1976, 1979–1981 and 1986. Pasanen sold Funny-Films to MTV3, which re-established it in 1995 to produce several TV series for MTV3 and SubTV MTV Sub (formerly TVTV!, Subtv and Sub) is a Finnish television channel owned by MTV Oy. Spede Pasanen
Pertti Olavi "Spede" Pasanen (10 April 1930 – 7 September 2001) was a Finnish film director and producer, comedian, and inventor, who has been called an "all-around entertainer". During his career he directed, wrote, produced or acted in about 50 movies and participated in numerous TV productions, including the comedy '' Spede Show'' and the game-show '' Speden Spelit''. Much of his more commercial work was in collaboration with Vesa-Matti Loiri (whose most popular character created by Pasanen was Uuno Turhapuro; first in TV sketches and then in a long-lasting series of motion pictures) and Simo Salminen. Pasanen's films and TV shows, often made quickly and on a low budget, usually received little critical recognition but were popular among Finnish audiences from the 1960s onwards. Uuno Turhapuro
Uuno Turhapuro is a Finnish comedy character and antihero created by Spede Pasanen and played by Vesa-Matti Loiri. Originally appearing in ''Spede Show'' during 1971–1973, the character gained popularity through the Uuno Turhapuro films. History Birth of the character Spede Pasanen originally had the idea for the Uuno Turhapuro character when the first lottery draw of the Finnish company Veikkaus had been shown on Finnish television in January 1971. Pasanen designed a new sketch for his show '' Spede Show'' about a couple arguing about how to invest their lottery winnings even before the actual lottery draw. Pasanen had earlier thought of characteristics including laziness and an ability to explain matters for the character of the husband several years ago. MTV3
MTV3 (, ) is a Finnish commercial television channel owned and operated by the media company MTV Oy, originally launched on 13 August 1957 as a programming block, becoming its own channel on 1 January 1993. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 (from Yle) took the lead. MTV actually stands for Mainos-TV (literally "Advertisement-TV", i.e. "Commercial TV), due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"— Finnish Broadcasting Company's Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel.
